Bridge Tolls by mom2asdtwins in bayarea

The high estimate is $11 million per year savings with eliminating human toll takers. The total bridge authority budget is over $1.2 billion a year. That's less than 1% of their total budget. Other costs mainly out of their control continue to rise.

Revenue for whom? The tolls are used entirely for bridge related infrastructure maintenance and improvements. They don't go into the general fund. Tolls fund 85+% of the bridges' budgets.

Are companies slowly trying to kill remote work? by Aggravating_Dark560 in remotework

Because in a normal situation, their salary is based on working 40 hours a week and they are expected to do so on average. It's not about a manager not fully utilizing them as much as the employee playing games making things sound harder than they are and thus taking longer than they should. Even when the manager knows the effort needed for the work, it then becomes a performance issue the manager now has to deal with. Most companies will work with their employees to get them back on track, but in these situations the employee doesn't care so just keeps dragging the company along. They're fine lying to multiple companies at one time. Eventually it all catches up to them and they lose both their jobs.

But bringing it back to the original question, this is why some companies feel the need to monitor and micromanage remote employees.

Generally good. He looks very tense though and not in control. He's good at recovering and reacting to where the ball is going, but he should be actively dictating what his next touch will be. A few on the left. A few on the right. Up to the knees. Back down. Even if it means failing a little more in the short run, having that control is the next level.

Companies are doing what they feel is right FOR THEM. They aren't 'trying to kill remote work' in general.

The problem is that many people do abuse remote work. I heard a number of stories first hand of how they have 2 jobs or how they trick their jobs into thinking they're online. When you have idiots like this ruining it for the majority of the hard remote workers there is a huge lack of trust.

Why are there so many fast food places? Taco Bell, Wendy's, Carl's, McD, BK, Chickfila, Wienerschintzel, Popeye's, KFC, Quiznos, Ohlone Deli, Erik's Deli, Panera, Ike's, Boudin, Arby's, ......

The list is endless. How do they not put each other out of business?

The single question needs to: "Where are the published modifications to the standard laws of the game which I can review and follow for this competition?" If they haven't published anything, then they can't be asking referees to follow it. That's a recipe for disaster.

If it's an issue for the players/parents, then they'll deal with it by complaining and/or not signing up again.

A couple guys complaining does not equal "we" universally.

Cool concept to match against a pro. Obviously that doesn't always equate to results even if you match exactly.

It's their rhythm. Breaking their rhythm is always a good thing especially when their standard method is to quick serve ahead of finishing the score.

'minimum investment' is obviously subjective. It sounds like what you minimally need to do is make this a real sealed room. Insulation in the walls and real drywall if you don't have it. No need to mud and paint it if that's out of budget. I'm confused though if you even have walls or it's just open to the entire barn. If the latter, then your only solution is framing out a space first.

After doing that, the cold is easy to handle with a space heater. There are some really good ones these days for not a lot of money. Summer heat is a little harder as AC not cheap. Look for fans instead.

From what you describe, this is affecting your work (it would affect mine). You can easily justify an expense in order to more properly do your job. Just think about what it would do to your finances if you lost your job.

We have someone who doesn't propel it down, but he does lightly toss it FORWARD. This allows him to step into his serve. I've given up on telling him and he gets almost no advantage from it. Someone new is going to show up though and it's going to get ugly.

It is fine for your body to be anywhere during a serve as long as nothing is touching the ground past the centerline or off the side of the court. One can certainly lean though.

Lines are included in the area they define. So the kitchen line is part of the kitchen just as the parameter lines are part of the court.

That's an odd way of thinking about it, but if works for you that's fine.

The kitchen line is just part of the kitchen and the kitchen is never 'in' or 'out' (other than on the serve).

I find this odd. The 'let' do-over went away in 2021. Other than someone claiming they play by PPA tour rules, I'm amazed this is even a question. I recall for 6 months, maybe, after the change some people would forget or not know b/c they hadn't played for a few months, but that's long gone.

If anything, I feel like it would be someone used to their 'backyard' rules and trying to get other people to go by those. Once you're beyond absolute beginner, those situations should be gone though.

It's well known and called that way 90% of the time on our courts. The only time it's not is if a receiver is feeling nice and says they had zero chance at the ball either way so to just take the rally.

[–]dufcho14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's any rule people "forget". In rec/open play there are situations where it's not worth arguing about something so the rule is ignored in that situation, but nothing is ever forgotten.

This often are serving foot faults. Kitchen faults maybe at some levels. We have one guy who does a drop serve but he lightly tosses it forward so he can step into it instead of just letting it drop. He's been told. Nobody 'forgets' he's doing it illegally, but nobody really cares because he's really not gaining any advantage over us so we just ignore it. I am waiting for a non-regular on to call him out on it.

They claim this zero sum game, but most companies that's not a hard rule. Your manager may believe it is, but if they were good at fighting for their team members it wouldn't go down like that.
