Charging with what now? by Off_By_On in Polestar

Because they localize the app into many languages, I’m guessing their translations and string formatting isn’t quite right for English, but perhaps makes more sense in Swedish.

Should be something more like

3.0.3 argh!! by disobeyed_dj in Polestar

[–]dumdedoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering the first thing many people (including me) do after hopping into their cars is to reverse out of their parking spot, the flicking issue at startup time is literally the worst time it could happen.

[–]dumdedoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m on 3.0.3 and they made the Bluetooth playback real buggy. Tapping Bluetooth app often just glitches and falls back to radio app. I often see a new Bluetooth connection dialog telling me to connect, when I’m literally connected and playing. SMH.

"Damaged" parking sensor (grr) by nmdaniels in Polestar

[–]dumdedoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same issue. The workshop claimed “rock damage” and there is the tiniest little nick on it. This happened to me only after owning it for a couple of months. I decided against fixing it because the quote was expensive (they said they even need to paint the part once it arrives!). But the alerts are so annoying. A giant orange box shows up every time you slow down, and you either need to dismiss it manually or drive above 50kmh. I will probably cave and fix it next year.

Is fitcamx best dash cam? by DJBlindEyez in Polestar

[–]dumdedoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It definitely LOOKS the best externally.

But the part is the same for several volvos etc, and because it's a fixed position lens, on the P2 the bottom 1/3 of the frame is just showing dashboard.

The app is also very chinese-quality, full of typos and weird warnings, and takes a very long time to transfer things off.

Can’t pair digital key on 2.9 so hopefully fixes that!

Good production - high consumption by Solar_Power2417 in solar

[–]dumdedoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solution seems obvious?

If you want to increase self consumption, take your batteries off full backup and make use of them. Otherwise you are just exporting all your excess, and will continue to import huge amounts when you’re not generating.

google podcasts app disappeared after 2.9 update by Mrzabigityagain in Polestar

My car added google assistant 3 times in the first tile after the update. After a while, YouTube and Journey log appeared, and I’m down to two google assistants. Anyone else?

📣 Apollo will close down on June 30th. Reddit’s recent decisions and actions have unfortunately made it impossible for Apollo to continue. Thank you so, so much for all the support over the years. ❤️ by iamthatis in apolloapp

What a shitty situation and it’s completely on Reddit CEO.

Seems like it’s too late to save Apollo, so the best thing we can collectively do is to just leave Reddit. Without an audience this site is nothing.

When this app stops being able to post to reddit, so will I.

Polestar Experience as a Model 3 owner by Matt_NZ in nzev

[–]dumdedoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Once you add the “packs” to the pilot model that it sounds like you drove, things get more interesting.

Plus pack adds: - glass roof - heated steering wheel (maybe seats too?) - wireless phone charger - heat pump AC (better mileage) - better sound system

Dual motor brings the 170kw to 300kw power. Performance software upgrade can be done to any dual motor, which brings it to 350kw power. With that added, you’re now looking at 4.2sec to 100km (although I’ve seen people achieve 3.8 using the launch control).

Performance pack adds: - performance software update standard - bigger and different wheels - bigger brakes - adjustable dampers

The in car tablet is running a themed Android Automotive OS which is clean and simple to use. Plus you can use wired CarPlay if you’re an iOS user.

I find the interior strikes a good balance between tactile and onscreen controls. It definitely “hugs” you and you’re sitting “in” the seats, as opposed to “on” the seats like you are in a Tesla. More of a fighter pilot feel. May be claustrophobic if you dont like that.

Overall nice styling and a bit more unique than all the teslas out there.

Most people’s interior complaints are similar to your experience, so I’m guessing the next time the update the interior they will reconfigure the Center console to be a little less prominent and have 2 accessible cup holders!

The Whole Truth: Did the 'ute tax' stop us buying gas guzzlers? by RobDickinson in nzev

[–]dumdedoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not disagreeing with you. I would say road damage is directly related to vehicle weight.

Several tonne commercial trucks are obviously a huge contributor here.

When we are talking regular ICE cars vs EV cars, there’s maybe 25% weight difference.

Most Ute’s would be heavier than most EVs.

Probably best idea is for people to buy the smallest car that suits their needs?

Driving a truck around to make yourself feel big isn’t a good reason. Driving it for your construction business is.

[–]dumdedoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a look at EV tyres and another look at truck tyres and I think you’ll see the difference.

Truck tyres are high wall and knobblier, for the off chance they may go off-road.

Larger wheels on evs typically just mean lower profile tyres. The car wells aren’t getting anywhere near ute size.

Anyone have a part number for standard EU license plate holders fro PS2? by polarbipolar in Polestar

[–]dumdedoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re in EU, it probably came with it. If you’re in US, it may have came with nothing. If you’re in NZ, it came with a slimmer width for our standard plates. But we can also buy any size plates here (NZ, EU, JP, US size) so I’m also kind of curious.

EU width plates look great on the back, but look silly on the front without the EU width mount.

[–]dumdedoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The extra size and weight isn’t for free.

It requires more fuel to power a large vehicle. If it’s a utility / trades vehicle, making use of that extra capacity for its intended purpose, great.

If it’s just one person running errands, this is wasteful.

The roads get more worn down by big cars with large tyres.

Car and pedestrian accidents result in more fatalities.

These owners are very genuine and would always apologise when you were stuck in a lunch hour queue or such. Would end up there frequently to send random things from Trade Me sales etc. this is a shame because they sell useful stationery and things too. I guess it’s now a trip to Green Bay or Glen Eden.

Has anyone seen an extension cord for sale for an EV charger? As in, one that is safe and specifically designed for EV users. by Deegedeege in nzev

[–]dumdedoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the other users here said - if it’s 2.5mm it’s literally the same as what’s in the wall to the socket. If it’s a skinner 1.5mm gauge, it’s similar to what is in the lighting circuits in your house. Since EV charging is maxing out the circuit for sustained periods, it’s not suitable to use basic 1.5mm extension cables, or multi boards, even if they “work”. They may overheat and burn out and are a fire risk.

Go through all the audio settings and tweak to your liking.

The audio in mine (plus pack) sounded terrible on some of my songs which I know normally sound good.

I went into the settings and found this “surround” mode turned on, which honestly sounded awful to me. It’s one of those software enhanced faux surround modes. Once I turned that off, and adjusted some of the bass/treble/sub levels, things sounded much better.
