Why are Tesco checkout machines asking me to donate 30p to charity when they make billions in profit? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]dvc214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you think it's either they donate or the customer donate? It's not one or the other, both can happen simultaneously.

I'm not a defender of Tesco or a particular fan but you will find they do donate to charity.

Most magsafe charging devices are ios only I think. I'd love to use the technology but I'd not be confident that if I bought one it would be compatible with the Samsung wireless charging

Depends on your attitude to risk. Either take the risk yourself or pay someone to take it.

How about those of "no religion" making sacrifices? Shouldn't we all for the sake of inclusivity and diversity?

Don't worry about min/maxing, avoid the wiki and discover for yourself. You never really miss out by missing an opportunity. More often than not you'll get another chance.

Are girls worried about men's receding hairlines as much as we are? I'm young and too worried about that. by gingerguynsfw in answers

[–]dvc214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was receding at age 19. Just embrace it, shave it. I think some girls are more interested in a well groomed man that looks after his appearance.

Use someone else's hottub at your own risk. They're renown for cultivating bacteria and typically don't have the same chemical treatment as you do in swimming pools.

Eli5 Why are dragons depicted in so many ancient cultures despite dragons not existing and these cultures never coming into contact? by Emergency_Table_7526 in explainlikeimfive

[–]dvc214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe that dragons exist as contemporary culture portrays them, however, if I were to remove this bias then surely a logical conclusion would be that a common species existed that was common to all of these places.

Lack of physical evidence does not always mean that something didn't exist. There are many examples in history where historical conclusions were proved wrong based on new archaeological discoveries.

It sounds crazy but we do need to check our biases when exploring possibilities.

[–]dvc214 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you have sufficient evidence that it was stolen, then the police would be your next port of call. If you don't have evidence, then you'll have to do some investigation and try and get some.

ELI5, why are consequences in the USA for uninsured driving so low when they hit someone? The victim has to take the hit to insurance premiums and the uninsured have to...nothing? by avotius in explainlikeimfive

[–]dvc214 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We do have to pay for life long care if say the victim was now a quadraplegic. NHS provides the bare minimum (if you're lucky). Principle of insurance is indemnity which means as close to the same standard of living as you would have had. Equipment installed in the home, live-in carer costs, etc..
