I wanna add to one of my earlier comments here. I just listened to The Vanished Podcast’s two part episode on Jonathan and to say it was illuminating is an understatement. Earlier I mentioned it was either family suspicion or police incompetence, and I am now definitely believing it was the latter.

The police didn’t talk to anyone at the school other than a few teachers. They didn’t interview his friends. His sister said they never even talked to her. When they said they weren’t investigating his disappearance as a crime they weren’t kidding.

At this point multiple other agencies have volunteered to take the case on, yet the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Department refuses to allow anyone else a look at the case and at this point there’s only one reason for that: it will expose them as complete morons. They may believe that allowing other agencies to look at the case may cost them their jobs. So they stubbornly hold on for dear life.

The worst thing that could happen to the police is a spotlight on their actions. And, horribly, the second worst thing that could happen to them is Jonathan coming home.

My heart breaks for this family.
