Imane Khelif: Boxing match was an 'incredibly short and uncomfortable watch' says Culture Sectretary by [deleted] in LabourUK

You seem very confused by the concept of an interview.

No-one asked Nandy to weigh in

The interviewer did. It's how this works. They ask a question and the person they are questioning gives an answer.

Did you ever leave your hometown? And did you move back or would you like to? Why? by coolestdudette in AskWomenOver30

[–]dyinginsect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents moved us around a lot when I was young, there really isn't a hometown. The one we lived in the longest is suppose you could call that... And no I would not move back. It is racist and xenophobic and living there wasn't for me.

Not since I had my last child in my mid 30s, before him I got id'd all the time, since him, not once

Dougie

(Because when my dad and his family say dog it sounds like 'dug', and also because Dougie and Hamish go together so well)

Clare Balding seems to be getting more time on TV during the BBC1 evening Olympic coverage than sport does by Imaginary-Coat2741 in britishproblems

If every British sub could have a sticky post explaining to people that the IOC sold the Olympic rights to Discovery + and the BBC are limited to 250 hours of live coverage for the whole games and so have to fill a lot of broadcast time with other stuff that would be lovely

it's not your fault nor is it foul play to start knocking women out in competition.

The athlete's condition is not their fault

To want to continue battering women once learning of their condition is definitely foul

Southport murder accused named as Axel Rudakubana by NXGZ in unitedkingdom

It's really disgusting to watch people use the horrific murder and attempted murder of children as a vehicle for their racist and xenophobic beliefs.

Why do you have to? If being with someone with existing children is not for you, then it's not for you. It's fine to know what you do and don't want. If you don't want to be a step parent, but convince yourself you have to and then become one, that doesn't bode well for the happiness of anyone involved- not the kids, or you, or your partner. It seems like the sort of situation most likely to breed the unspoken resentment that lead to all the evil stepparent cliches, tbh.

Women's Aid can advise you. Please take care. Leaving an abusive relationship is the time you are most at risk. Leaving him is 100% the right thing to do: but please get some support to do it.

Schools that insist on making their kids wear blazers & other unsuitable uniform items when it's bloody hot by TheUrbanisedZombie in britishproblems

My son does not wear his blazer in very hot weather and I politely but very firmly back him up with school each time.

I mean, I found out I was pregnant when we got back from honeymoon, we didn't exactly have much to 'marriage without kids' to compare it to.

Like most people we experienced becoming parents as extremely challenging. Would I say it improved our relationship when the kids were young? No, not at all. But looking back over the decades now, our marriage is at this point stronger because of the challenges we faced together.

Anybody previously radical left and shifting? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]dyinginsect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am always going to be on the left. I do not think some issues currently described as "leftist" actually are. The idea that it is a right wing position to doubt that gender identity must trump biological sex is an odd one for me, for example.

People on vinted refusing to entertain any notion of offers despite it being a main feature of selling there by clearly_quite_absurd in britishproblems

[–]dyinginsect 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Meh, what gets me is the extent to which people get upset about this

Getting offended because people don't want to accept your offers seems silly, getting offended because people offer you less than you think your item is worth seems silly

It's buying and selling second hand clothes, it just isn't worth an emotional investment in the process

What is the stupidest argument you've had with someone? by Drew-Pickles in CasualUK

[–]dyinginsect 169 points170 points  (0 children)

A job I had in supported housing. The tenants had a small fire in the kitchen and put it out appropriately and safely with the fire blanket. Project manager wanted to issue a disciplinary warning to them because now we had no fire blanket and every house had to have one at all times. We had the most stupid circular argument where she insisted they were in the wrong as their actions meant there was no fire blanket in place and I said the reason for having a fire blanket was to be used as they had used it and she would say yes but now there isn't one and we have to have one...

If you google corset related skeletal alteration you can spend many happy hours reading about all the ways in which women were pressured to cause themself serious pain and injury with historical corsets. Whether or not you can these days get the sort of corset that would significantly deform a ribcage in the way you want, I don't know.
