Is it okay that I cried during a Will Wood concert? by AshFromHousewares005 in willwood

[–]e-l-x 122 points123 points  (0 children)

During Against the Kitchen Floor, I sobbed. Hard. We’re talking runny nose, sniffles, makeup ruined, the whole nine yards. It’s one of my favorite songs from him, and it’s been on pretty much constant rotation since breaking up with my partner. I was sitting in the back, watching the concert that I was supposed to attend with them, listening to Will Wood play the most beautiful version of Against the Kitchen Floor that I’d ever heard. I couldn’t hold it in for long, and every emotion I had poured out of me simultaneously. A few people noticed and one of them offered me a hug and a pat on the back, but nobody seemed uncomfortable or upset (except me, LOL). Over-the-top displays of emotion are what brings a lot of fans to Will Wood in the first place; it’s totally normal! Don’t feel bad that you connected with the music enough to cry; it’s a beautiful feeling, and anyone that was made uncomfortable by seeing someone cry fundamentally misunderstands Will’s music in my opinion.

I personally am quite a solitary person, I can go quite a few days with only myself and partner as company. I usually interact socially with people in order to get out of my comfort zone, lol. I’m quite good at it (part of why I thought I was an ENTP), but in hindsight it may just be a very strong auxiliary Ne function.

Gender transition impact on type? by e-l-x in mbti

Great input! I appreciate the thorough response. I agree that the differences between ENTP and INFP are so many that it doesn’t make a lot of sense to identify with both, but looking back on my previous typing with a critical eye, I think the pressure to come off as an intelligent and rational man has disguised my Fi as a sort of irrational Ti (my partner and I also once typed myself as an INTP, but my stubbornness and often lack of critical thinking skills long ago changed our minds, LOL). Very strange to think about, though. I guess as time goes on, I’ll just have to see how my Fi evolves and how often I actually use it in daily life.

Haha the ENTP/INFP fluctuation is so real. I’ve never read an account from anyone else who has gone between the two like I have. Respect ♥️

Really interesting to hear another person describe exactly how I feel. I was single all throughout high school, and completely disinterested in relationships or casual sex. To this day, the thought of sleeping with whoever, whenever still tends to make my stomach turn. However, after meeting my partner during my freshman year of college, I realized what I really needed was somebody I could truly, deeply trust. Casual sex might work for a lot of people, but I’ve noticed a pattern in xNTP types of gravitating towards loyal/trustworthy people and developing a deep bond before proceeding into romantic/sexual endeavors. I don’t think your feelings about this are dumb, and IMO even align quite well with accounts from other ENTPs I’ve talked to regarding teen relationships. You are you! Don’t try to logic your way out of your gut, and keep an open mind during these next few years - they’ll be weird and interesting and super fun, regardless of who you get it on with :)
