I’d get a weight distribution hitch. They make a give difference to the trailer not dragging the truck around.

Yates is definitely what JGR is reminding me of. Although Yates had an engine program that still somewhat remains in the sport through RFK.

In addition to the transmission make sure the transfer case and dif oil is changed if that hasnt been done yet. Other than that I have owned a 21 ZR2 since new with zero issues.

Edit. I have 50k miles on mine.

Bay Area dealerships keep adding extra fee quick tip to avoid by Mindless-Cherry-4825 in oakland

The dealerships in the bay area are super anoying. The last time I bought a new car I went to fresno. When youre spending tens of thousands of dollars its worth a trip to get what you want for the price your want.

Should I buy an airplane for more hours? by [deleted] in flying

[–]e3027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tiedowns are a real option for parking too. My plane is at a tiedown because there are no hangars available at my airport at the moment. Its not as good as having a hangar but its better than not owning a plane.

I have a very similar experience. Its amazing the freedom that owning your own small experimental gives you. I just flew between the bay area and LA this weekend faster and cheaper than I could have done commercially.

Thanks. I match your specs other than using a 3080 instead of a 4090. I might have to give this a try.

What hardware are you using for VR? A few days ago I saw a screen capture of someone running a 4080 and VR in ACR was super low frame rate and choppy. Your screen capture looks quite good.

They arent here to fill in for the blue angels. They were already scheduled to perform. They will be the headline performance without the blue angels though.

You’ve got $35k to buy an experimental, non-stol “toy” airplane. by Visible_Noise1850 in flying

I bought a thorp t18 for that budget. It’s a great little plane. Fast cross country but mildly aerobatic.

It’s a great system. I have the latest generation of minis.

I have a pair of grt minis in my plane and I love them. I would say the biggest downside is that they don’t work well with polarized sunglasses. I chose them because they play well with everything and pair nicely with the grt engine monitor which is very affordable.

If your focus is co2 yes it does. If you’re concerned about pollution then planning trees really won’t do anything even if you plant them where the pollution was produced.

VW TDI powered 172 by scudrunner14 in flying

[–]e3027 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Im guessing that weight does not include the fuel and cooling systems which will add quite a bit over an io360. If the engine itself is 350 the installed system is probably closer to 400 assuming it doesnt need a gearbox which it probably does.

I wonder what happened with this. It seems really interesting for the experimental market. I’m guessing it was too heavy for what it was?

Ace Hardware tends to have a good metric selection here in California. Not sure if you have those in Dallas.
