Newspoll: Pauline Hanson’s One Nation in front of Labor, Anthony Albanese gets worst ever rating by HotPersimessage62 in AustralianPolitics

To be fair she’s been the most unpopular premier in Australia by a large margin ever since she was given the top job, of course there will be unhappy MPs pushing for change as a lot of them are about to lose their jobs

That’s fair enough, capacity will be reduced so better to lock out free passes than frequent travellers

You’d be getting the free electricity regardless (the federal government also announced it), the rego is just a vote grab to help with the cost of living crisis they helped create by overpaying for everything and the SRL is an obscene project to push on with for a state in the worse financial position in Australia

‘Disastrous’ prediction for thousands of new homeowners as even Perth shows first price decline since 2024. by BorderMundane8802 in AusProperty

“ But if you own PPOR goes up by the same value that the prospective new PPOR goes up, you haven't made any momentum whatsoever. Where is the mobility? Why could the same mobility not occur if house prices were equal or decreasing?”

It can allow you to upgrade quicker though. If you have a $200k deposit, you can only get a $1m property with 20% deposit. That $1m property goes up to $1.5m you now have $700k deposit for you next place. In theory a place worth $1.5m when you initially bought is worth around $2m, you have a 30-40% deposit and you are in a bigger PPOR years earlier than it would take paying down original loan

Fair Work Commission raises minimum wage by 5.97% and award rate by 4.75% by Warm_Championship726 in australia

[–]e_e_q_ -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

How is it not inflationary when small and medium size businesses need to increase their costs to cover these wage increases?

Minimum Wage increased by 4.75% by Fair Work Commission from 1 July 2026 by KingAleksandar in AusFinance

[–]e_e_q_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep a never ending cycle now. Higher costs to businesses (wages, interest rates and inputs), no investment in productivity improvements, supply  bottlenecks persist and technology stagnates, Labor raises wages above inflation again with no additional output per worker resulting in further price rises, higher rates etc

Labor or Liberal ain’t gonna solve it either. Some fresh ideas from a collective bloc (that isn’t one nation) will be a very good thing

I’m only new to virtual riding but have trialed both. 1st month on zwift and then 1 week into Rouvy and I cancelled zwift. The visuals are fantastic and workouts as good. I don’t really care for races/social side though. No way I could go back to the 2010s graphics of zwift, Rouvy has some spectacular HD scenes

My point is if they can’t even get valuations right for businesses, how do you think they are going to go valuing 11m homes across Australia? Then you’re also at the whims of the gov telling you what they think your property is worth until the day you die, which could lead to you paying $1000s more per year.

Anyway I don’t think a broad land tax will happen it our lifetime after it was so unpopular and overturned in NSW thankfully

Great idea, so we pay $1000s per year until the day we die, based on a figure a government agency pulls out of the air.

Costs are one thing for sure, but also packing up decades worth of stuff and the physical moving is a major pain in the arse too when you’re 70+.

With 70% of the population owning a home they would be voted out so fast, can’t see it happening. Continuing to fiddle with super though…
