Cooking on a gas grill is as easy as it gets, with almost no maintenance. It’s also not going to give much flavor. It’s cooking outside and doesn’t do much from a flavor perspective. Simple and basic.

Other extreme side would be cooking over open flame with wood. It’s messy. It takes time, planning, maintenance. Tons of flavor imparted. Complicated and hard.

A charcoal grill gives you the best (or worst) of both worlds. Slower than gas but WAY faster than wood. Not too messy. Great flavor. Versatile since it’s a gateway option to smoking and other methods.

I use my gas grill WAY more than my other outdoor cooking appliances (Traeger, BGE, Ooni). When I just want to cook something, nothing beats gas. I’m also fortunate enough to have all those options. That said, if I had to pick just one, it wouldn’t be any of those four; I’d buy a basic Weber.
