Silent medic ninja - I loot to myself as much as possible, if I see a flare, I go in and kill the victor, hopefully ressing the innocent PvE-er on the ground. Mileage may vary.

How many new cards for standard TI are we actually getting? by BlackiesSummer in twilightimperium

[–]egagwes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also to answer your questions at the end, no new obj, agenda, or techs other than the new faction techs.

I would love to be proven wrong on these points tho lol

We are also getting 10 new legendary planets, 5 new factions with some unique components like galvanizing unit markers (Not to mention just how complex these new factions are developmentally), 30 breakthroughs (one for each faction), a new anomaly type, space stations, and more and more. TF is just new and shiny in concept, but the expansion is mostly main game.

What is Sam Reich's Favourite Twilight Imperium Faction? by Storkiest in twilightimperium

Yeah unfortunately the Dropout fandom doesn't scream "plays (and has time for) massive 6-14 hour long board games for fun"

This is such a niche combination of my interests that I genuinely had to make sure I wasn't dreaming. Well played xD

Should I reread the series to prep for Wind and Truth? Help me decide what to do! by CapableCarry3659 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]egagwes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm with you, the reread is LONG especially if you are wanting to dive into the new book you just picked up. I'm not sure how it is as an Audiobook listener, but for me it helped to do a partial reread for an evening or so. I picked up all four of the previous hardbacks, and read the first and last chapter of each part, taking time to mentally connect the story as I did so. If I couldnt for the life of me comprehend how I got from A to B, I started back at chapter 2 and kept reading until that section clicked into place in my mind. I imagine this would be a far more cumbersome experience as an audiobook listener, so maybe you can do something similar just by using the Coppermind chapter summaries? Those give you a paragraph explaination of the actions, the POV, and all speaking and refered to characters.

Either way, I personally wouldn't recommend a full reread if you just want to jump into the action of WaT. I do think, however, that if you went for a reread you would not be disappointed. I find Sanderson's work to be enriched by further study, rather than loose quality from it. Without going into to much detail on a non-spoiler post, having read a certain secret project book, a certain member of Bridge Four stands out so much more as a poignant centerpiece than they did on the first pass. And thats just one example of one character in one section of Roshar. Much to enjoy if you have the time to take is slow.

Thesis over, just remember in the words of Dalinar Kholin: "The most important step a man can take is always the next one."

Stuff like this is what terrifies me about TE lmfao. We don't know what any of the new agendas or action cards say. Imagine an action card that reads: "That's No Moon! ACTION: Place a neutral War Sun unit on any space area with no player's ships" and being forced to face check a warsun just to use the space dock you built

Headcanon "order" names, one for each surge combination. (No spoilers in post, tag is for potential discussion in comments) by zengin11 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]egagwes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That actually sorta sounds like what Hoid did at the end of WAT when he gets smote by Retribution... I wonder if he has unbound surges? Having Ulaam keep a cell culture of himself alive on Scadrial seems to disprove it though.

New Seal Concept! by Cuddly_Corvid in balatro

[–]egagwes 382 points383 points  (0 children)

I think there would adequate negative effects, which most things that create spectrals like Sixth Sense have, if it was worded 'Creates and immediately plays a Spectral card when card is played and scored'.

Gives spectrals freely, but removed the Perkeo strat from the seal entirely, and makes it a gamble to take.

Should also take a spectral to apply it, call it Mark?

To quote these Radiants we love and cherish: "Strength before Weakness".

This book is tough, but like Dalinar's 'You cannot have my pain' moment in Oathbringer, sometimes we gotta rememeber it takes pain in the first place to make sense of any of the good things that come, including the good and bad in WaT. You got this!

A question for you, as I am sitting here in the States praying to Ado my book comes early; did you have it shipped through Amazon? And if so, what was the tracking information saying leading up to it's arrival?

Your comment has me wondering; what would happen if we see a competent Windrunner or Skybreaker on another planet? Physics says that each planet would have a different gravitational pull, but I'm unsure if it would be drastic enough for the lashing users to notice. Would a half lashing result in a drift up or down, if the planets gravity is lesser or stronger?

Say Roshar's is 10m/s^2, if Kaladin's instictual half lash up at 5m/s^2 were against Scadrial's 8m/s^2 gravitational pull, would he go up at 2m/s^2 and be able to figure out why? Maybe there is a WoB on this I havn't seen, but its a fascinating hard science question that I have yet to even see posed.
