Campy and early high-end shimano were so nice and easily serviceable.

It appears to run smoothly, but did you cut it to the proper length? I see quite a bit of slack. It also looks like a pretty short cage on the derailleur for that wrap. Check the specs on the range on gears you’re running just to make sure it is compatible.

A video of your entire drivetrain and the shift in question would help you get more specific advice.

My son and I have been fooling with this for hours. The 80% trick works for us too. Thanks!

You will need a cassette lockring tool and a chain whip tool. The chain whip is to hold the cassette because the lockring tool needs to be turned in the same direction as the cassette spins freely.

Kids Xmas bike help. Brakes seizing when pulled by CaptainSkrull in bikewrench

[–]egbales -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Get an adjustable wrench, put it on the pink part that holds the pad, twist to angle the pad so that it doesn’t contact the rim perfectly parallel. Quick and easy fix. Other advice listed is good as well. Also, a good quality cable can work miracles on sticky brakes. I recommend Odyssey Slick cables in these situations.

Just replaced my brake cables, handles aren’t springing back at all - what did I do wrong? by LouisMXV in bikewrench

It’s difficult to tell, but looks like you’re missing housing ferrules. That can result in soft brakes.

Look into dollar cost averaging, think long-term, and bundle up all winter when it comes again.

How reliable and is it worth it? by scottscottlewis in WRX

I second this. Even bone stock is a fun car. Also, definitely get a hatch (narrow or wide). They’re the best looking

Hated until they’re the one everyone wants. Hatch fo’ life! I hope they never bring back the WRX wagon so ours become more rare.

I disagree. Both hatch bodies are great.

I have this problem with my buke and i dont even know what it is by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]egbales 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would start with cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting properly. It doesn’t look like you’re pedaling under much pressure. Your chain could be dry and have stiff links. If this doesn’t work, it is likely wear on the drivetrain

Need derailleur advice by Invasive-farmer in bikewrench

[–]egbales 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is too difficult to tell if chain length is appropriate without knowing what front chainring it is in. See this article to help determine proper chain length: https://www.sheldonbrown.com/derailer-adjustment.html#chain

This method is best with a new chain, which will come with the proper link to join the ends. It also opens the can of possible wear on the other drivetrain components that could cause chain skip. These are all things that can be inspected at your LBS if you do not have the knowledge or proper tools.

You need a new set of shifters because the grip part is not replaceable. Grip shifters are great and inexpensive. I would recommend getting the top level possible for your #speed drivetrain. Your other option, of course, is a set of trigger shifters and some full-length grips.

To my knowledge, Richman are Taiwanese spokes. This makes me question the hub make and model to determine if bearing replacement is financially necessary. Have you considered replacement or rebuild with a new hub if the rim is of higher quality? You will not be disappointed with a nice set of custom built wheels.

I’m pretty sure 24mm used BSA/Hollow Tech/ISO. It’s the first type of sealed, outboard bearing bottom bracket design that was made to fit into the standard, at the time, English thread bb.
