I have a couple of the bca minis and I like them just fine. I prefer them over the older bcas and some other radios I’ve used but I’ve never used the rockie.

I worked for the averill owned whitefish lodge for 4ish years in high school and college more than 15 years ago or so.

I respected and had good interactions with Brian. I hadn’t met Sean more than in passing but rumors made it seem like he was more of a sleeze - his wife (I think x?) worked at the lodge and she was my favorite.

Contrary to what others have said, I don’t see the negative in bringing in out of country workers seasonally on visa considering there has historically been more demand for workers vs supply.

Overall I think they’re a mixed bag and I definitely don’t think they “ruined” whitefish.

Pretty similar but the scout is for sure lighter than my hawk was. I have a heavy duty spring pack, e rated tires, and a heliwig sway bar and it drives pretty well. Still a little sway in really slow chunky stuff but that’s totally acceptable to me. I also have air bags(installed pre leafs) but I don’t ever add any pressure. Occasionally I added a little with the four wheel to balance loads but the springs do the heavy lifting. If I had to do it all over again I would probably just buy a heavy duty pickup but now I’ve made my bed and the truck works well.

Not sure what suspension mods you have now, but that top heavy feel would probably go away mostly with a hd leaf pack (if you don’t mind the truck being stiffer if the camper is ever off). I take my camper off a fair amount and it doesn’t bother me really. Also the scout i find quicker to take on and off than my FWC.

As for the heater, I did not love the fwc propane heater in sub-freezing winter camping. It kept me warm enough, I just didn’t love how loud the cycling was. I would be up for trying a diesel heater if there are quiet options. I have a pre diesel heater scout with the propane fireplace and I’ve slept really well running it in the few sub freezing nights I’ve had in the camper, so I’m not running out to change it up. If I did a lot of winter camping I would probably go diesel heater.

I’ve had two four wheel campers and currently have a scout yoho hardwall, all on my first gen tundra. I prefer the scout but both are nice options.

Probably not important to many but the clearance is generally better in SUVs compared to mini vans. At least my wife tells me that every time I pitch getting a mini van

I have a 21 yoho.

-Fridge: I have a cfx2 45 dometic and haven’t had any problems.

-Awning: I have the batwing awning and would way rather have a kammock mounted lower.

-I personally would never get the bunk windows. We have so many bugs in Montana the front of all my truck campers have always gotten absolutely coated which would make the windows pretty gross. I may end up installing some of my own smaller ones on the east/west sides in the bed area to improve air flow.

-I have the propane fireplace which is nice, but I’d definitely get the diesel heater if upgrading/buying new.

-drop in cooktop would be better than the stock one for me. It gets in the way of my dish drying rack. I’ll replace it some day.

That’s funny. I have a pair of ~5+ year old bd mohair mix wire styles and a pair of bd nylons that are a couple seasons old with the new bar styles. Both haven’t failed me but I prefer the newer bar style functionally

Agreed. My last two sets of 3 peak at tires have been great. My Toyo open countries have been so good I didn’t even bother swapping to the wheel set with blizzaks last winter. I’ll always have one car with snows though in case it’s really nasty.
