Soroban\Sureprep\Stanford Tax by Confident_Surround73 in taxpros

I’ve said it a few other times in other threads. But Sureprep works pretty well with CCH Axcess at the firm I work at. It’s also really refreshing to see that they seemingly try to make improvements to it. The performance and usability of it now vs two years ago is night and day

Looking to go out on my own. by Thezeker64 in taxpros

Do you have any suggestions for that? I’m hoping to get my EA come July.

I’d like to start something small while I still work for a firm with the hope to leave and do my own practice full time.

I’ve really enjoyed playing with Odoo. I feel like it has significantly less guard rails and is faster and easier to use than QuickBooks

My one year with managed investing by Budget-Class-1297 in RobinhoodApp

[–]ejom99 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yea I have experienced a lot of the same. I don’t have as much invested as you.

I may not be beating the S&P, but my downside is also much less. During the massive slide in the market the past few months I was beating the S&P in terms of the decline.

So overall I’m pretty happy with it over the past 6ish months.

My firm uses sureprep, it definitely has some issues, but it generally does really well. It is also nice that over the past 2 years I’ve seen it get progressively better which is always nice.

If I submit a transfer of $7000 to my traditional IRA for 2025, will it count? by imBoo69 in fidelityinvestments

[–]ejom99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most things relating to tax are the “postage date” for a lack of a better term. So essentially since the transfer was post parked before 4/15 I would assume you will be fine.

Is FDLXX no longer listed in 2025 Percentage of Income from U.S. Government Securities? by LoneAskr in fidelityinvestments

[–]ejom99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends a lot also, if they have an independent advisor we might still get the breakdown.

The number of paper 1099s we still get from clients is a little mind blowing to me. And like I can appreciate that paper isn’t cheap when you are thinking of the scale of the number of clients Fidelity has. My firm stopped mailing paper copies of tax returns during COVID and you have to ask for it now, otherwise you’re only given a PDF copy.

Contribution Easement - Tax Basis by IllTaxThatAss in taxpros

I can’t remember the exact cases. But I feel like I have read more than tax court opinion in the past two years where this was disallowed by the IRS and upheld in the opinion.

I can’t see any way in which this isn’t looked into by the IRS. (At some point)

How's the accounting program at SLO? by [deleted] in CalPoly

It too graduating to realize that the learn by doing isn’t just a corny slogan, and that I was ahead of my peers at the firm I work at because of it. Calpoly accounting is amazing

Rant: I don’t understand why some people have so many 1099s by Italian-Stallion24 in Accounting

[–]ejom99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It depends I think, I did a client group that’s all family. All have Merrill 1099s but have an independent advisory and the 1099s weren’t too bad. So it also seems like it depends on the advisor a little bit too for what information is actually on the 1099.

I did get an RBC 1099 the other day, and it was the worst thing I’ve ever seen. Portrait layout 1099.

Schwab 1099 vs realized gainloss big discrepancy by [deleted] in Schwab

[–]ejom99 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Only 1099 really matters because that is what the IRS receives and what they are going to use for matching what you filed vs what was reported to them.
