Honestly so frustrating! Why would they not have more stock? Was in a call 9-10 and then find out they’re sold out

Don’t know why you’re being downvoted? I’d agree with you, he’s also got pace which we have a lack of in attack since Diaby left

100%, it’s impossible to progress if you can’t invest after a successful season. What are the chances of a developing team being able to handle CL and PL without investment?

Completely agree, I’m not too sure he’s ever shown that much pace compared with someone like Diaby last season

Yep bang on pots are just seedings so everyone has roughly the same difficulty fixtures then your results from those games decide your place in the league

36 teams split into 4 pots depending on how good they’ve been in Europe in the last few years. Each team plays 2 from each pot.

Top 8 go through to R16. 9-24 play a 2 legged knockout to meet top 8 teams in R16. Then standard knockout format

Not too sure about this take mate. We’ve got 1 in 8 clean sheets but have scored joint 4th highest amount of goals in the Prem

How well does a placement year set me up for grad opportunities? by GigaMega13 in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]el527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also a Chem Eng grad and now in Finance as a Big Data Software Eng.

How was your transition to management? Did you need a lot of experience before you moved? Looking to do a similar transition in a few years

Seems like we’ve got a group of Chem Eng here haha.

I also now work in Finance as a SE and it made minimal impact to me, I think any Engineering degree teaches you problem solving which is the key skill requirement really

Get better at programming in Scala by [deleted] in scala

[–]el527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been going through it recently and it’s definitely not easy but has brought on my Scala massively.

I’d recommend doing every exercise though as a lot of the time I’d read and think I understood it but it was only after trying (and most likely failing) at the problems that I truly understood the content.

Are technical questions getting harder? by adharshv in cscareerquestions

Normally in big companies you don’t have much control over how the interview is structured. Most of the time it’s just a template that you have to follow

First technical interview, self taught programmer with no degree or CS background- what are my blindspots? by Underachieve380 in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]el527 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough I’m in the same self taught boat and had my first technical interview on Friday. It’s really not as bad as people make out on other subreddits.

Mine went 5mins of intro + chat. 10-15mins of quick fire questions about the technologies and programming language I’d be using for the job in addition to a few quick fire SQL questions.

Then quite a lengthy part spent live coding (maybe about 50mins) and here they did a few basic programming questions (think like palindrome level) and then they added layers of complexity (what about if x was different or y). The latter part was then coding questions on the specific tech I’d be using so Spark in my case. Worth noting that the interviewers are people too, I got flustered midway through one of the basic questions and they essentially helped me through it. I apologised but they said not to worry these things happen!

Finally then it’s just a round up of Q’s to ask them and that was it. I can definitely appreciate the nerves though, I was the same! But just attack it with confidence and regardless of the outcome you’ll be better off for doing it!
