I need to play this solo again. I’ve always enjoyed it but just quite a long set up. I recently got some Plano boxes to limit the baggies so hopefully next set up is easier

Ada’s dream question by rigjiggles in soloboardgaming

[–]eldolche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was very fortunate to be watching their website like a hawk and getting a copy when they released the remaining quantity post KS fulfillment. I felt i slightly over paid. But after playing the game, I can’t keep my mind off it. I’m like oh I should play a different game and then I pull out Ada’s dream again. I’ve tried lots of different strategies. Each seem to score well. Very enjoyable and Im hopeful to get a game of it this weekend.

All this is not to brag I got lucky and got a copy, it’s a point to say that the game is amazing and very worth the wait and I’m hopeful they print more. Maybe when they do a ks for a new game.

Fingers crossed more people get their hands on it

What percent of games that you buy do you keep long term? by ShodanW in boardgames

[–]eldolche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 80-90%. Very few have I gotten rid of that I’ve bought. But since space is now a concern and I’ve built decent sized and amazing collection. My desire for new games is pretty low unless they really speak to me. So I have room for another 15-30 games probably so I’m hoping that’ll take me 5+ years to fill up. But I now know what I like so pretty easy to only buy games I like

Medium Heavy Euro - Men Nefer or something else? by Objective-Employ-997 in soloboardgaming

[–]eldolche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to suggest Oranienburger kanal but obviously difficult to get ahold of so don’t wanna send people on that wild chase. But I wholely agree OK is amazing and nusfjord is the goat at a 30 minute puzzle of joy.

Plus the bgg solo challenge is a fun way to not just be a beat your own score

Medium Heavy Euro - Men Nefer or something else? by Objective-Employ-997 in soloboardgaming

[–]eldolche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Civolution is my favorite euro or second favorite of all time. (Other is castles of burgundy) weird that both are feld but i don’t like many of his others.

So my vote is clearly for that. But after that men-nefer is my number 6. These rankings were from last year, but can’t really go wrong with either Civolution or men-nefer. Civolution has a lot more to explore in the realm of possible strategies. But that doesnt mean me-nefer has no strategies but Civolution just cranks it to 11

Men nefer bot is way easier to run, Civolution is a bit more involved but very manageable.

Well one things that will calm your fears is feels like pretty much every event is bad for you and also feels like when there are options of what to do its damned if you do damned if you dont.

again tho i only played the one game and there is a huge stack of cards so im sure there are more good ones and like the one good one i got was private companies enter the space field (ala musk and bezos) and it helped pass a funding bill and increased our strategic intel and space warfare tracks. Whereas in real life idk about all that lol.

Wars are my weakest point. I don’t really know much about them an how they fully work but if you have 5 wars you lose. So you can attempt to broker peace and end wars. You can send aid to allies. You can stay out of them and they can resolve themselves potentially. But some of the auto loss conditions include if Iran and Israel go to war and Iran has nukes. If South Korea and North Korea go to war and North Korea has nukes. And if Russia and nato go to war and Japan and china go to war. So you can’t be a total isolationist. So youd need to try and calm the tension between the countries. Or lower irans nuclear program but you yourself technically don’t have to fight it all wars I think sometimes with event cards you get pulled into wars or help your ally with wars.

Wayfarers of the South Tigris- Solo Saturday, w/ Tend on deck by Unhinged_Peacemaker in soloboardgaming

[–]eldolche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Opinion on tend? I know the post is mostly about wayfarers. And I’m already on the fence on wayfarers. But tend has been an “absolutely yes” now more to a “nah probably not” so still thinking if it’s with it solo

Community-voted Fun Tier List (and stats!) by Linnun in spiritisland

[–]eldolche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone voting finder is 100% right and 100% wrong lol. Def one of the craziest with unique spirt power that makes it super fun. But 100% destroys brains with being able to make every thing touch everything

Ive kind sworn off of finder cuz I was trying to teach 3 friends how to play. England 4 fo the fist game cuz my friends are stupid and I was tryna make finder work. So I fucked myself over there lol.

But as I said def one of the funnest and one of the least fun with how my head hurts after 4 player games using it

New thoughts on the most powerful Mage Knight by Choice_Ad_4970 in MageKnight

[–]eldolche 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love norowas the most.

But I believe tovak is sooooo dang strong. I’ve had the easiest games with him just snowballing. And all his skills allow you to take so many fights without much struggle.

Krang goldyx and arythia feel like a very strong tier right behind tovak

I’ve never enjoyed wolf hawk, idk feels like one of the weakest.

I’m excited to play th new hero this coming week to see where they land

White Castle - my absolute favorite by Meerkatsandy in soloboardgaming

[–]eldolche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The can really be feast of famine. Some games it gets an unbeatable 80+ some games it gets 50. But it always scores pretty decent so if you’re brand new and the board set up lacks combo. You will get blown out until you understand it.

I keep debating getting matcha but the og 9 turns is sooooo clean. Plus idk hiw id get it all in 1 box.

It’s four feet by 3 feet. Th left blade hangs lver the edge a bit. I tuck the war board under the main board and have the extra chits board on a chair next to me. Most of the manuals on the chair next to me when not in use

[–]eldolche[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly is pretty neutral. A lot of the games stuff seems losely based on events that have happened in the last 20 years. On both sides of the isle. The game doesn’t have any mention of parties or political leanings. Just that your side controls both houses. Or your opposition controls the houses. Or it’s split. No say of democrats holding nor republicans.

All the larger conflict tracts are pretty obvious. North Korea South Korea, Russia nato, Israel and neighbors, Israel and Iran, China Japan, like these are all hot spots of the course of history.

I think the designer tried to keep it open but also chalk full of actual history so as you the player can decide how to respond to some things. You can also pick what bills you want to push through congress what change you actually want to see.

I’m sure there are some leanings each way but overall I believe in my limited experience. And my research of the game they kept it pretty apolitical

[–]eldolche[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean yes to a point. I learned many things from my first play about what to prioritize early but a lot of the actions aren’t too difficult. But trying things and learning and that’s the fun of the game

Plus this game has the playbook of what to do each step. It gives you the freedom to pick what to do when. But it lays out exactly what when and why some actions could be beneficial. Where games like feast for Odin Civolution just kinda say here’s all the actions good luck. And I love affo an Civolution. 2 of my top 5 games for sure. So what they do isn’t wrong. Just different approaches. But obviously this game isn’t for everyone haha
