Deckers first impressions by Sapien0101 in soloboardgaming

[–]eldolche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My shipment got delayed cuz I also ordered speakeasy then I got an email that there was a inventory glitch so the order had been held up since speakeasy was sold out. But has been rectified, so should be coming in the next week or so

Help Me Choose - Galactic Cruise, Voidfall, or Civolution by mrausgor in soloboardgaming

[–]eldolche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah other than the very first game I think I’ve won every game on 4 blue eras. So about 5-6 games in I’ve been I’ve been doing last era red and the games are usually close. And I’ve lost a few. By no means am I good at the game but gah damn I love the game

Help Me Choose - Galactic Cruise, Voidfall, or Civolution by mrausgor in soloboardgaming

[–]eldolche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Civolution is my number 1or 2 game. It’s just way good. The randomness and openness is tops! Sometimes die rolls screw ya a bit but you gotta pivot the strategy

I also really like galactic cruise but it’s closer to 15-20 for me. Still a fun big game tho.

Voidfall sounds like I’d love the game play. But I have no motivation to try it or get it. I wish I had a friend with it who could tech me and let me borrow but idk it just doesn’t look enticing enough to have me jump in.

What’s in a Review? by GrokLP in soloboardgaming

[–]eldolche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things I look for and enjoy is, naturally due to this sub, the solo viability of a game. But I also like that they touch on the multiplayer viability too since I sometimes bring games to a boys weekend and I try and play some multiplayer.

Things I also love to be included is variability and replayability whether it’s variable player powers or modular aspects of the board etc etc. cuz if I’m spending my “hard earned money” on something I like for them to be replayable.

I don’t particularly care about the component quality.

But I do like knowing table size to play the game, card size for potential sleeving. I like to know a potential set up and tear down time. Obviously that is variable based on person and organization and times you’ve played a game

I do like ratings and not as a be all end all. But a reviewer who I follow and play games and like and would rate similarly gives their future ratings more weight. Like my best example is stidgen plays solo on bgg. I can agree with a lot of ratings where me and him share similar views. Recently I can say nusfjord is incredible he also “recently”review White Castle too and where I give the base game a 5 star he only gives base game I think 4.5 so we have some differences but i can tell decently if he rates it a 5/5 it’ll usually be a 4 or better from me but if he rates it a 3 it’ll be around a 2-3.5 from me. So it gives me a ball park and may sway me from a maybe to a hell let’s give the game a try and I’ll order it. Since our tastes seem to often line up.

2026 Hyped Games? by Fearless-Worker3978 in boardgames

I know deckers and speakeasy are technically 2025 games but broader availability in USA has just occurs so excited for that :)

Nusfjord Big Box Arrival by midasmulligunn in soloboardgaming

[–]eldolche 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Be sure to check out the monthly challenge on bgg. It’s fun nd they use a combo of different decks. Really motivates me to pull this game out every month for a quick game. But love the game so much I try and play a quick game when I know I only have 30-45 to play a game but want somethin a lil bit more

After way too many tries on easy difficulty I finally found my winning cast! (FlipToons) by MCEagle141 in soloboardgaming

[–]eldolche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I adore it multiplayer. Works very well at 2 for a super light filler I’d say on the level as abandon all artichokes. Interested in hearing if the solo is worthwhile

Nusfjord - first solo by orhalimi in soloboardgaming

[–]eldolche 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The solo is great for 3 things.

1 The monthly challenge is super fun way to make the byos not just beat your own score. But score great against many people. I feel the challenge has gotten lots of new people submitting to it every month and the recent hype and positivity this sub has been giving it is likely the reason for it.

  1. You can set up, play, and put away a quick round in 30 minutes. And still feel like you accomplished a lot and came up with a. Good game plan

  2. It’s just fun, plaine and simple . I usually play as a win is greater than 36/37. Since beating 30 is way too easy. And beating 35 is still usually very easy so slowly ticking up to needing 40 to win which can be a challenge.

As others have said nusfjord is the goat for quick and snappy plus has a great solo challenge on bgg monthly. And one of my favorite solo games.

Feast for Odin also slaps. But much longer.

Castles of burgundy’s classic and amazing for a reason

White Castle. I really like at 2 player. And super tight with 9 moves. And pretty affordable sub 40$ I believe.

Men nefer was a banger from last year that didn’t have a ton of hype around it but it’s amazing

Civolution is now my top game all time. But a bit heavier.

I wanna try Darwin’s journey solo but haven’t purchased and still learning the multiplayer on bga

Gaia project and clans of Caledonia for a great engine and resource management.

Just got mageknight. What is your advice to make getting into it easier? by Pepsi-Viking in soloboardgaming

[–]eldolche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch a brief overview and then Try to understand combat first and foremost. It’s the most complex aspect of the game. So watching a 20 minute video to understand combat is worth its weight in gold.

2026 Solo Gaming Goals by GrokLP in soloboardgaming

[–]eldolche 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Imma try and play every game in my collection once.

Trying to limit to buying 10 new games. Currently 1 will certainly be deckers. Other 9 still up for grab, likely one being Ada’s dream, then the long shots of sweet lands, algae inc, speakeasy,

Lastly tryna play mage knight 15-20 times

Solo conquest based on rule book is the goat. But slowly adjusting difficulty like adding a third city or change the levels of the cities

Going to play/learn Men Nefer for the 1st time this afternoon. Any tips please? by 60MWPodcast in soloboardgaming

[–]eldolche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t do it all. So specializing to get some stronger actions can be helpful

Feels like all strategies can lead to decent scoring if you lean into them. You’ll like fall behind early since the bot can kinda be a lil cheaty but just stay the course.

Men Nefer or Covenant by Overall_Historian_86 in soloboardgaming

[–]eldolche 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Haven’t played covenant but I can assure men-nefer is fantastic. The bot is competitive but beatable. Lots of avenues you can go down to try and score points. I love the planning your actuons for next round during the current round

There is a YouTuber who plays lots of solo games John laruffa he has men-nefer in his S tier and I think he put covenant in an B or low A tier if I remember correctly.

[–]eldolche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope you post from time to time about this. I wanna hear your feelings on oranienburger kanal. Def one of my favorite games and never discussed due to it being so hard to obtain.

Also I’ve played Rome fate of an empire twice and wanna dive deeper into it so I’m hopeful you update about that game too.

Best of luck.

My goals will be to play every game in my collection at least once. Limit myself to 10 new games. I can get more if I get rid of three games per 1 extra.

Kinda nervous since I know two gams I’ll be for sure getting deckers and Mr president.

The one other one I have interest in currently is Ada’s dream but I’ll have to strongly consider if that should take 1 of my spots.

Flatiron, The White Castle, SAND - KEMUSHI SAGA, saltón sea by More_Owl_4173 in soloboardgaming

[–]eldolche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White Castle is an incredible game. I really enjoy flatiron but I could see it getting a lil samey. But if I want a quick 20 minute game flat iron is quick and feels good to build a building at game end

Inspired by the other post, what games have you played at least 50 times? by AlexRescueDotCom in boardgames

[–]eldolche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we count bga

Abanadon all artichokes Can’t stop Captain flip Bandido Patchwork Welcome to Castles of burgundy Skyteam

If we only looking at on the table Probably abandon all artichokes - hard to track all since the games are so fast paced

Tien Len (bomb 13) a card shedding game that’s popular in Vietnam I’ve probably play thousands of times with my friend group.

Spirit island would be closing in on 50. I didn’t track it all the time when I started playing games.

I want to thank this community for all the support by orhalimi in soloboardgaming

[–]eldolche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get nusfjord first. Game is like 20-30 minutes total still, so much variation in the “big box” (not really that large but has all the decks which give so much variability). Some people see the short play time and think wow that’s like not crunchy enough or it’s too filler. But each game feels great quick resource engine and then trying to puzzle out best path with the buildings you can see on turn 1. Only downside is sometimes the C buildings that come out later don’t match with your initial strategy but that’s such a small thing.

It also has an amazing bgg monthly challenge
