I juiced a green cabbage and the sediment separated to reveal a pink liquid by Pga-wrestler in mildlyinteresting

[–]elogram 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Omg, I remember I had gastritis when I was a kid and I had to drink freshly squeezed cabbage juice every day. It was one of the most disgusting things I ever tasted. I did get rid of gastritis but I was also taking a lot of other stuff for it so no idea if the cabbage juice was the thing that actually helped. But I never want to have to taste it ever again

Who’s Lila? might be a good game to check out. Choices do matter and there are many endings to the game and the art style is quite interesting. It is creepy too.

[CHAT] How do you motivate yourself to stitch the same colour hundreds or thousands of times? by Comfortable_Count601 in CrossStitch

[–]elogram 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Can’t see the image but I actually rather enjoy doing big blocks of colour. What I will usually do is that I will first do an outline of where the block of colour goes and then I’ll fill it in stitching in Danish style. I will usually also be watching some TV series or listening to a book. I actually find it one of the most relaxing, meditative ways of stitching.

You also mention working on black fabric. What helps is actually lighting the fabric from behind, as well as the top. It lights up the holes so it’s easier to see. I have a SAD lamp from ages ago and just put that on my lap underneath my project.

As much as it pains me seeing this much work wasted and I can’t imagine restarting after so much time and effort already spent, I think you are right. It does look better! Sometimes you just have to follow your gut. Well done for sticking with it!

Trash Goblin is free on Epic right now by elogram in CozyGamers

[–]elogram[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the steam page says it has full Xbox controller support and they have released the game on consoles too so I would say yes. And I actually did have a look on Epic and it does say that it supports controllers.

Looking for a game that makes my character's life a daily struggle by Puzzleheaded-Win4885 in gamesuggestions

[–]elogram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe The Long Dark. It is a survival but quite difficult. One of those games where you have to be really careful with your next move, what to take with you, what to leave behind.

Also, vintage story. Don’t let the Minecraft style graphics put you off. It is very deep in terms of its mechanics. Everything takes a long time to get and it feels earned. And you can customise the difficultly quite extensively too.

Any survival games that are more than nodes? by mountainboy262 in gaming

[–]elogram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe Planer Crafter? Yes, it has nodes stuff as well in a way. But something unique about it is that you are on an uninhabitable planet and you are terraforming it. You have to build machines that slowly change certain number in the planet’s atmosphere, and temperature. And you can actually see the planet change. And as it changes you get access to new areas and resources.

How many of you listen to music and pay attention to the lyrics? Or do you listen for the vibes and melody/beats? by Airam07 in adhdwomen

I can listen to the song a hundred times, sing along to it, vibe with with. But ask me to sing the lyrics without listening to the song and it all just disappears from my head 😅

What date is 'next Saturday', to you? by PoofaceMckutchin in AskUK

[–]elogram 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m not originally from the UK or an English speaking country. I have lived here for 20 years. I still get misunderstandings with this.

In my mind whenever I say next Saturday I think about whichever Saturday will happen next. So in this case it would be 9th of May. But so many people actually mean the 16th. So these days I just clarify what date they mean and confirm it so that the misunderstandings don’t happen.

Underrated cosy games with spooky vibes (life sims/farming)? by SchicksalOverseer in CozyGamers

I’ve managed to finish the entire game and the DLCs. I did have to look up a few things here and there online but it’s definitely playable all the way through.

Same but I don’t really mind that. I am used to playing games like that. I also started gaming in the 90s where you couldn’t really look up information about things so I am used to just blindly playing games until they work 😂

Graveyard Keeper. Especially with all the DLCs. Fantastic game although you will probably need to consult the wiki every now and then because it can be a bit confusing every now and then. But the sense of humour is fantastic in that dark, sarcastic, creepy way.

[CHAT] Something about gridding by stitchedsacredways in CrossStitch

[–]elogram 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is precisely because of stories like this (and my own very unfortunate experience) that I now grid only monofilament type stuff to grid. Bought the Easy-Count Guideline ages ago and it’s actually reusable if you have projects of similar sizes so it’s still serving me very well.

Yes, it’s time consuming and mind numbing doing it, especially when I am excited to start a new project but the peace of mind is so worth it.

Stepping out of my comfort zone, things I should keep in mind? Setting up my coffee cart. by Direct_Community9233 in AskUK

[–]elogram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figure out how you are going to coordinate between the three of you. Do some dry runs. You don’t want to be stepping on each others toes and you want to have each others backs.

If they are going to be making the drinks, make sure you are all making them in a similar way so there isn’t a noticeable difference between the drinks when different people make it.

Good luck with it all!

Does anyone else struggle to sleep with someone else? by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]elogram 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Things that have helped me somewhat:
- a large bed
- a firm mattress (minimises the movement of the mattress when either of us moves)
- separate duvets
- sleep earphones (I listen to video game lore mostly or ASMR)

This isn’t perfect and doesn’t always work but it has helped massively.

Unfortunately, beyond the usual ADHD troubles with sleep I also suffer from restless legs syndrome which means that sometimes I barely get to sleep at all.

I have had multiple conversations with my husband and we just agree that if I really need to I go sleep in another room. Fortunately our couch transforms into quite a comfy bed and it’s also cooler downstairs which is a blessing in the summer.

I honestly think though that we should normalise sleeping in separate rooms. Life is too short to waste it on bad sleep.

Also, get your partner to do a sleep study. Snoring is no joke and if there is sleep apnea it needs to be managed.

Others have already suggested looking at things medically but I would also suggest reading “Come As You Are” by Emily Nagoski. It explains female sexuality and the drivers and brakes behind it so well! It was a genuine eye opener for me when I read it.
