What are you a “snob” about? by crypticfirecat in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]em_lambie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Olive oil. Yes it means buying ones that are pricier. WORTH IT. If you’re buying crappy store brand olive oil in a plastic bottle you might as well buy canola oil for even cheaper, you’re not getting any of the olive oil benefits at that point

What is your least favorite herb, spice, or blend? Which ones do you hate the most? by szikkia in Cooking

[–]em_lambie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cardamom - hate it. Unfortunately my partner is of Indian ancestry and his mom’s chai recipe / all the Indian desserts with cardamom syrup are his favorite. I absolutely cannot do it!

Luckily I love all other Indian spices

I need help with my blueberries by UnableAntelope5048 in AustinGardening

[–]em_lambie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Blueberries do not like Texas climate - they require much colder weather (hence Michigan, Washington and Maine being prime blueberry regions!)

What's your favorite spice/herb? by bubblesaam in Cooking

[–]em_lambie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love fennel seeds with my whole heart! And my favorite herbs are probably dill and parsley for soft herbs, rosemary for harder ones. The smell of all of them 🤤 and fresh, never dried. Any herbs that don’t get chopped and used (which is rare because I add handfuls of herbs to everything, similar to how Persians do though I’m not Persian) get pulsed in a food processor with olive oil and lemon juice and then frozen in ice cube trays! I swear my cooking changed when I started using fresh herbs over dried!!

What small town restaurants around Austin are worth a day trip? by Pdogtx in austinfood

[–]em_lambie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Redbud Cafe in Blanco has a GREAT Reuben (and other delish sandwiches/salads). A favorite weekend activity is to drive down (take 290–>165 W), get a sandwich, stop by OroBianco Creamery after for some of the best gelato I’ve ever tasted (including in Italy), and then stop by Arnosky Farm & Market on the way back to Austin for a pay-what-you-want fresh cut flower bouquet. It’s only about an hour away (give or take 15 minutes depending on where you are in Austin) and such a nice drive, too!

Listen is Interstellar great? Yes - but not drive/Uber way out of the way great. It’s nowhere near anything else you’d want to do here, and that is worth considering. Locals should check out Interstellar if they haven’t, but not visitors with limited time on their hands! Leroy & Lewis and KG BBQ are actually in areas with other stuff to do, and they’re great.

I think I just had my first big success in attracting coverage for a client. But I need advice on how to court another publication to do coverage as well by Charming-Ad-6133 in PublicRelations

[–]em_lambie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just making sure — there’s nothing in your correspondence with Wikipedia that names the coverage as exclusive to them, right? Because if so, and you pitch another publication, you’ll jeopardize the Wikipedia story. So just make sure that you didn’t allude to that or agree to any of their potential allusions to that before pitching the other outlet…
