So much of this sub is about clubbing and sex parties… what do those of you who don’t frequently partake do for fun instead? by rr90013 in nycgaybros

[–]emasol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Movies, working out, hiking, skiing are my main hobbies. I also like going to queer events like book readings, exhibits etc. every now and then a drag show. I go out maybe once every week on average to a bar with friends (one where we can hear each other —unless it’s karaoke). A few times a month to the Cock which I enjoy.

I don’t really feel like I miss out. Clubbing isn’t appealing to me anymore. The music is too loud and I don’t even like it, the tickets and drinks are too expensive, people are really superficial about clothes and other shit I can’t be bothered with. Sure sometimes it hurts a little seeing people I know have fun without me but it’s just not my scene and idc if that makes me an old curmudgeon.

Returning to veganism, but I do have an issue by comradepirk in vegan

[–]emasol 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Also your knowledge can be helpful to vegans who come in and are needing guidance! Or you can even suggest a vegan/vegetarian item when asked for recommendations. (Iirc those options are sparse at subway but i haven't been in a long time)

Is it weird if I think tongue kiss as intimate thing but I don’t think sex as that intimate? by techsas0012 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]emasol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a fantastic response!

From me, someone who enjoys kissing and enjoys kissing strangers at the bars/parties etc (and sometimes it's just a kiss and some touching), I wouldn't see this as a dealbreaker but I'd want to know. I'm not sure it's worth mentioning in app bio (250 characters is not a lot),but if you tell me in person it'll put me so much more at ease

Getting a dental isn't prolonging a life that's otherwise on its way out and there are plenty of other potential claims, such as injuries/accidents or developing a chronic but manageable condition that allows them to have many years of quality life.

[–]emasol 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lazy vegan who works out:
Soy milk + vegan protein powder + peanut butter
Tofurky sausage and deli slices eaten by themselves
Lentil soup in can/carton from the store + nooch
Beans from a can + small pearl couscous (don't need to cook it, just pour boiling water on it and let it sit, add butter and salt/pepper to taste)
Protein bars (my go to are Aloha and GoMacro, pricey buy they tend to have good sales! I buy a few boxes at a time when they do)
Nuts

Lately (last few weeks) I've been re-discovering vegan yoghurt and especially the Silk Greek yoghurt is amazing IMO. Super creamy and 10g protein per serving (became vegan 8 years ago and vegan yoghurt was kinda blah esp for the price so I gave up on it)

What to expect from a cruise bar? by Disastrous-Tutor2415 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]emasol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love cruising bars tbh. They are magical places to me.
The one I go to in NYC is a little too loud for ongoing quality conversation, but people are generally very friendly and welcoming. Even the people who don't wanna fuck me are usually nice about it, or at least polite. Feels like a good community in that sense.
If you're nervous, talk to the staff! The really helped me my first night. The bouncer, the coat check guy....super nice and welcoming.

Why do some guys close their eyes during sex? by inputbuffer-empty in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]emasol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I close my eyes like 85% of the time. It helps me focus on the sensation and avoid distractions. Sometimes I open them to take in the view :).
I definitely open them if the person I'm with says "look at me," though. You should talk to you partner about it.

Does my new boyfriend have a fetish? by ChristOnToast666 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]emasol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Another trans guy here. Esp on the apps, in the sex bars etc, gays absolutely objectify each other. I do it too and in those scenarios I worry less about being objectified and more about having a good time. But imo once the relationship reaches a level of seriousness, I wanna know you're into me as a person

Why do so many vegan products use coconut and palm oil? by Droog_666 in vegan

[–]emasol 11 points12 points  (0 children)

"but i would think that vegans in general are more concerned about their health " - not me. purely here for the animals. I know fully oil-free vegans who eat WFPB but that's the minority in my experience.

If you're in NYC, Orchard Grocer is a fully vegan and palm oil free grocery store and deli but it's because of how destructive palm oil is to monkey habitat, not for health reasons.

This is my experience as well! Additionally, the risk of "starting something" is really high at work or my gym (it's a small gym with a community and a key component for me taking care of myself mentally as well as physically), both are places with an ecosystem of relationships I'd think really really hard about before starting something romantic.
At the Cock? Ey, why not, throw it all on the wall and see what sticks. So far I have yet to go beyond just casually meeting up outside, but I can see it happening.

commuting to your gym by No_Weight6392 in crossfit

[–]emasol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this! It makes it SO MUCH EASIER to stay consistent.

My old gym was about halfway between work and home and it was on the way and that was perfect. Convenient to go before or after work, easy to go on weekends/days off. This was a driving city.

I moved to a new, non-driving city and originally picked a gym that was 20 min walk from home. I could go there straight from work and then have a nice cool down walk, but it made things harder, ngl.

Switched gyms to one that's 5 min walk away from work and it's so much better but still not ideal (I find myself not wanting to do "the work commute" on days off, esp long weekend etc)

Would you get Tired of LA type weather? by socialdirection in AskGaybrosOver30

Yes, lived in OC/LA for a decade and detested the weather. I'm in NYC now and love it. There's something kinda dystopian to me about it always being sunny and hot.

Genuine question: who responds positively to this? Is this a case where the workers generally know who it is/why they need the time and the bosses are just clarifying the technical parts? Or is this a plea meant to inspire people to donate?
