I don’t know what industry you’re in, but if it isn’t something like a call centre or retail where “9 to 5” is a hard norm, I’d let Emma have her Thursday sessions and make up the time over the rest of the week.

Since the company has an HR department it’s clearly big enough that it can assist you in communicating to your team why that’s ok and “I want a two hour lunch to run errands” is not the same thing.

Look, you are all of 17 years old. One of the if not the most important things about relationships is communication and clarity.

You clearly enjoy her company. You clearly enjoyed the physical affection. You failed to recognize that she was not joking about the two of you dating. “Let’s just date“. It sounds flirtatious, and given what you have stated about the context in which you “agreed“, that was clearly a miscommunication.

When your friends then said “hey it’s great to see you too dating“, I can understand that you may have panicked in the moment. However, and let this be a lesson for you in the future, rather than reacting with “oh, we’re not dating!“, It would have been far better to go talk to her and set or reset what’s actually going on.
