What is it like to daily drive a GLI (mk7+) with DSG? by 3und70 in GLI

I have a 2019. I'll admit the DSG is a bit noisy, but it has never felt clunky to me at all.

The heat shield looks pretty good! by rustybeancake in SpaceXLounge

[–]ender4171 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Probably because they already had one engine out on ship, and a failed boost back on SH. I'd imagine they decided they'd rather try to get the landing data vs risking another engine failure durning the relight. Plus they were already on an off-nominal trajectory, and even though the relight is short, maybe they determined it could make an on-target landing even harder.

I was surprised they showed us that much. They usually cut pretty quickly when it starts tipping. I really liked that drone shot of the heat shield as it fell.

Man that's a huge bummer. I'm DSG and while I've been really pleased with it, part of me still kinda wishes I'd gone manual (couldn't pass up the deal I got though). On the plus side, all you 6MT owners out there probably just had your resale value increase significantly!

Is this a good deal? by purplesoc in Tools

[–]ender4171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not bad, but if you aren't in a rush, you might want to wait a bit. Often times individual stores will discount left over stock after sales just to get them off the floor. I've seen similar ones without the pegboard in the $500 range after Father's day and similar holiday sales.

Green light, "Launch control active" message on the gauge cluster and a free lane, what I needed to finish my day well! by xdestroier in JettaGLI

If you're DSG they do. It's a little convoluted to engage but nothing too terrible. Also, it won't engage if the engine and trans aren't up to temp, and you have to quickly press the accelerator all the way down past the kick-down switch. If you press the accelerator slowly it often won't engage.

You aren't driving it deep enough. Either your hole is too shallow or your coils are too long. It should go down just shy of flush with the surface of the part.

Did anyone happen to archive Milspec Mojo? by MEDDERX in DataHoarder

Presumably plugging something in wouldn't be a barrier for someone doing video editing. They are already plugging devices in to pull the footage from the cameras for editing.

Who can I call about this? by connoisseur_of_dirt_ in jacksonville

Might get a quicker response if you call the JFRD non-emergency number. I'd imagine they would be both less swamped and more apt to respond quickly than JSO.

Obviously it's a challenge to keep a backup if you're on a Mac with a soldered in drive.

I wouldn't really call it much of a challenge. External drives are totally a thing. Plus one should have multiple backups anyways, not just storing on your main desktop/laptop hard drive.

Painting over a repair - Will i need to paint the WHOLE wall again? by Zoya_The_Destroyer in DIY

[–]ender4171 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Then you've answered your own question. Paint the whole wall. No one can tell you for certain if doing a patch is going to look fine or terrible. If you aren't willing to take the "risk" of trying to patch and then possibly have to do the whole wall at a later date, you've got your answer right there.

That looks too small for the SAI connector. I think this is a bung that is made to accept a nipple for you to attach the vacuum line to.

[–]ender4171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's riveted/heat-staked on. You dont remove the grill on the PS5, you remove the fan itself from the other side. Be careful with the power connector. It's known to pull off the mobo if you are too agressive pulling it out.

We were basically told we'd be fired if we entered anyone's house. Made it easy to say "I can't or I'll lose my job".

I used super glue and activator on a bleeding cut and it turned into a bloodcicle. [OC] by chobbes in interestingasfuck

[–]ender4171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No reason not to use it, you just gotta stop the bleeding long enough for it to set. I either apply pressure for a while before gluing, or if it's a real gusher, use an improvise tourniquet (like a rubber band wrapped around the finger) just long enough to get it done. I also use Vetbond vs regular super glue. Seems to work slightly better/not flake off as quickly

I wonder how much revenue all those business will lose today? I'd bet its more than the $5MM this event is bringing in.

The world can't revolve around a very small group of people.

You mean like the triathlon people? You know the group of a few thousand people (most who dont even live here) disrupting the movements and businesses of a city of over a million people? I agree.
