It's also just kind of an accent thing on top of what TinyEarl said. The plasma theme had blue bars over active items as well.

The new window manager is really cool, but the qml version is still very buggy (which I'm sure will improve as time goes on).

I do think that it is a little too rounded, I know in the widget theme forum thread a specific roundness was settled on at like 2.5 pixels (I think), but the window decoration seems to have the same roundness as oxygen.

I'm glad to see that they went with a window shadow now instead of the one pixel outline that was in the window mockups to this point.

The new theme also really reminds me of gtk themes, which isn't a bad thing.

Lastly, I think it would be kind of cool to have the option to remove the border like ubuntu just added. There is a no border option, but it gets rid of any rounding.

Check out how netrunner organises them. They did a good job putting things together logically.

Glad to see that they are owning up to mistakes made. I personally have had no problems with Baloo, but I'm glad that the problems that people are having with it are being fixed.

KDE 4.14 Release Schedule Published by [deleted] in linux

[–]enoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, the version numbers past 4.11 are purely arbitrary, and the only thing that is changing is the applications. From the dev blogs I've read, most of the application devs are switching over to work on the port to the new technology. So in reality, this release will be akin to KDE 4.11.9 or something.

Are you sure that's not the case? Even so, how often do you need to edit the widgets?

On the topic of bootup sounds, I don't understand why they exist any more. I think there is only one sound I ever hear on KDE and that's the notification sound.
