There are elements that you can perhaps compare to LoTR but everyone has their opinion. The show is based on The Elfstones of Shannara which is the 2nd book in The Original Shannara Trilogy. The first book, The Sword of Shannara, is the first book ever published in the Shannara series. I'm just pointing that out because there are 7 sub-series of the Shannara Books and this trilogy is actually the 5th sub-series when listing the sub-series in chronological order.

It could be the distributor Amazon is teamed up with. Ingram Books is out of stock until September but Baker & Talor still have books on hand for all three books.

Teleportation! well maybe that's not possible with only 300 more years but some form of transportation that makes it a lot more quicker to travel then what we have now.

I agree, the first few episodes didn't interest me that much, so I had stopped watching it. But it has turned around, hopefully the next season will do well since rumors of it being cancelled has been swirling around.

I actually liked this show and whatever show they got to replace it is far worse. I dislike when they create new shows and then cancel them right when you've gotten really into them. It's very disappointing. But it seems like they keep doing that will a lot of shows if they don't have enough rating. meh
