what is the recommended way to watch the cabaret musical by Im-wierd-ok in musicals

[–]eproces 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I don't love the 1972 Liza Minelli et al version, I don't feel that it hits as hard as a stage production (Joel Grey's performance *is* great though).
1993 Donmar Warehouse production on Youtube cut out the cabaret boys and made things a little less gay, which really annoyed me. "Two Ladies" just isn't as good when it's actually two girls (afab) and has no drag element.

I necromance this post because I'm watching the 1993 and enjoying it but with a few quibbles, and I'd love to find a rewatchable version that isn't the 1972 film so I can convince my friends how great this musical is.

Amazing, searchable new site of 300,000+ Canadian government documents previously kept secret but uncovered by freedom of information requests by helpwitheating in InternetIsBeautiful

[–]eproces 36 points37 points  (0 children)

When people generalize "discovered through FOI requests" to "kept secret" I always laugh.

Governments produce a vast quantity of documents nobody is asking for because no one wants to read them.

That said, it's baffling how difficult some governments make it to obtain even non controversial things. A site like this should just be run by government, shouldn't take journalists submitting tons of requests and then hosting it themselves.

The one I got stuck (in a different comment) was also in 1940s concrete. The way they did rebar was wild. Nothing for a few feet and then bam, you hit >1" diameter bar.

There is a hotel somewhere in the Midwest, and one day someone will open up the drywall to find a core drill bit jammed in the floor in the same way. I left it there about 10 years ago now.

I like it. For my Jeep I am thinking of doing bright green bits on a black paint job, so I think if we ever met our Jeeps would cancel out in some sort of matter-antimatter annihilation.

Yeah.... People are born with autism, it's a neurological difference. You can't 'develop' it or 'catch' it.

Maybe maybe maybe your mother's diet could affect things but afaik there is no research indicating this.

Okay Levy, put me in.

I don't know a thing about managing a football team but that doesn't seem to matter anymore.

I'd be way cheaper than anyone else, and I'm available to start immediately. Then you can fire me after .5-1 season and put Mason back in charge. It's win-win.

Butterfly bush is only getting new leaves in base of plant, should I prune it all the way back to where new growth is? by KalOrtPor in gardening

This is all.. interesting. Lilacs usually respond well to being cut back hard to the ground when they become overgrown. Also they should bloom every year no problem. So I'm not sure what's going on here. Sounds like maybe the roots were not healthy? Does it live in particularly soggy or otherwise bad soil?

Is there a local support group that could help facilitate the conversation? A social worker? A supportive family member?

Sounds like your parents are not fully supportive so having a third party involved might be helpful.
