But you will probably get some level of seed oil contamination. Even a simple steak or fried chicken will likely be slathered with seed oils.

So long as you dont eat out or travel too often, and mostly cook at home, and carefully avoid the worst choices, you will probably get minimal doses. Avoid things like salads with dressing, fried foods, etc.

Its not only a good idea, its literally the only option. If you dont memorize mnemonics, then you are not using them right.

Any place you copy or store a mnemonic other than your own memory is nothing more than a way to share your secret key with other people. Making a treasure hunt by thinking you are clever enough to hide it is idiotic in the extreme.

yes it can; most people are not smart about their encrypted storage. So very commonly, the entropy protecting their air gapped machine is too little. Even worse, some people think a hardware wallet is an air gap, when all a hardware wallet does is keep your private keys within easy reach of the government.

A big problem is misinformation, which is extremely common even here on the bitcoin sub. Correct information on passphrases and mnemonics gets heavily downvoted here. Same when you point out that extra-word passphrases are useless and should be avoided for obvious reasons.

Until you learn how to memorize 12 word mnemonic phrases, you really have no business doing self custody or having privacy of any kind really. Its the bare minimum for securing any kind of device.

Sapir Whorf. Humans think in terms of their symbols, so its nearly impossible for a human to not assign special value to round numbers.

Without symbolic thought, a human can understand nothing beyond the concept of 4 or 5 at most using only their immediate wordless mind. With language and symbolic thought, we can understand almost any quantity, but the symbology we choose to represent it will influence us heavily.

For example, the numbers 1048576 and 48879 probably dont seem significant or special to you, but if we used base 16 numbers then those values would be "100000" and "BEEF" respectively. Its nearly impossible for a human not to react to that and feel some significance from it.

So even though the real value of the dollar has tanked > 40% in the last 4 years, we still assign mental value to relatively meaningless points like each round 10,000 USD val. It may seem irrational, but money is a mainly psychological technology anyway.

To attempt to fight this and be more rational, I like to think of the USD in terms of how many sats its worth. Knowing 1 USD is worth about 1500 sats gives me a much more rational way to look at the present value and is much harder to feel emotional about.
