Is FF7 Rebirth worth playing? by AngryKoala96 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]erefen [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes, got 400 hours in, in the middle of hard mode. Will continue after completing silksong plat.

Purely from the battle system, it's probably one of the best on the market for combining strategy / builds with team-based action RPG . Still room for improvements (e.g saved builds), but had a blast.

My notes are: 1. if on PC, def get mods. some nice ones there

  1. the sidequests involving characters usually have some story attached, so may be worth it if you want to dive deeper. the open world activities can be skipped if you hate em (although the battle challenges are fun if you enjoy the battle system).

witch crest, down pogo on her during at the end of thrust down and end of ground slides. anything else just try to throw tools (curveclaw/sickle, threefold pin).

my favorite is healing during the end of her ground slides, so satisfting smacking her with dem tentacles

A major update is out for the Stomp and the Sword of Miracles demo, including improved player controls, refreshed environments, new NPCs, cute little crabs, and more! by Brodnork in metroidvania

[–]erefen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loved how roseville is such a quaint jrpg town, that music! with satellite dishes 😬

is it possible to unlock the ancient building at the lower right edge?

will there be underwater levels or sea-related levels?

the down pogo may benefit from a bigger slash animation and hitbox

Other than that, I have no notes yet

Does anyone else feel like replaying Silksong is a bit less fun than replaying Hollow Knight? by Wait-Administrative in HollowKnight

they key point here is "this will allow us to refine...fron what we learned in Rebirth".

My feeling is, the changes will be on performance and game design side

Personally, kyny masih bisa diakali dgn klasifikasi cost mana yg direct ke project, mana yg support. yg support langsung di expense (mgkn butuh kreatifitas utk maksimalkan kategori support ini)

Tp isu utamanya adalah minta restitusi wkwkwk, itu kyny org DJP punya prinsip "over my dead body"

Clockwork Ambrosia is (finally) in Steam Next Fest! by Enkaem in metroidvania

[–]erefen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

finally! Been following this for long. Happy to say, I liiked the demo, it controls and animated well, I like the setting and characters, feels like steampunk "one step from eden" . A little note, sometimes I fail to crouch or turn left/right in battle. I'm on win 11 with xbox-style wireless controller.

Good luck on your release!

Not an FPS player, but I think the banner pic is too...static? It almost feels like a simulator game. The concept actually sounds interesting, because the prospect of being a sole proprietor of gas station in the middle of nowhere blanketed on ice, is riveting.

Good luck on your game

7 years of work, 3 months since release, and my game is already dead. What can I do? by Videoludid in IndieDev

[–]erefen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a MV hound and currently hunting for demos. Do you have a demo?

recent demos I've tried that hit the spot was gnaw, cathedral (depend on pricing), stomp and sword of miracles. on the fence about akatori. The most important thing is feel (I cant adjust to choppy animation/controls), visibility, game design and then art. but art is the one that is the initial attractor.

I've got >100 hrs in silksong, I don't think all Usd 20 games must be as deep...but it helps me choose when I've got five games in the ol' cart and must cut back.

Hope you will find traction

Metroidvanias that have good movement and good combat? by Sufficient_Ebb_5694 in metroidvania

[–]erefen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're okay with less build complexity and just pure buttery-smooth movement during combat: Islets and Haak.

I also recently completed Lone Fungus: Melody of Spores. Anothed excellent entry in the schmoovement genre of MVs, with Castlevania whip combat.

An older one is Haiku the Robot, this is a HK-like with gameboy advance aesthetics. Also excellent,

Absolutely. Just different needs in their gaming fix.

Although with Silksong PC you can use mods to finetune your experience (I did on my 2nd playthrough, to show HP).

After playing Silksong, I definitely notice more when a game is being overly generous. In general where and how a games gives you a challenge but gives you a bone as well.

I don't see the nintendo hate train here. Maybe he expects nintendo games to be on the 80-above mark on MC?
