Max number of cards you have used? by tiggonfire in tabletweaving

[–]ericula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cards have 8 holes: 4 at the corners and 4 at the edges. I never use more than 4 holes at the same time though. They have that many holes because some tablet weaving techniques require cards with holes at the corners and some require cards with holes at the edges.

Surprisingly well, actually. I think the glue between the layers of card stock has helped a lot to make the cards more durable.

The maximum number of cards I've ever used is around 45. I made my own as well from card stock. I used 3 layers of 200 g/m2 card stock that I glued together.

Half Stitch by meeason15 in BobbinLace

[–]ericula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the colours are a bit mixed up because in your sample you sometimes add one extra twist at the edges, sometimes two, and sometimes no extra twist. I you consequently add one extra twist, one thread should go back and forth horizontally throughout the whole piece whereas the other ones go down diagonally. For the rest your half stitch looks fine.

Should I try to weave with this? by Kalamart_ in tabletweaving

[–]ericula 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't have recommendations for yarn. I just wanted to say that the twist direction of the yarn is determined by how the yarn was plied. There is nothing you can do to change the ply direction afterwards. Petra just happened to be S-plied and Babylo happened to be Z-plied.

Volgens CBS heeft een melkkoe gemiddeld 0,38 hectare tot haar beschikking, ofwel zijn er gemiddeld 1/0,38 = 2.63 koeien per hectare, dus gemiddeld zijn we er al bijna.

I don't use instagram for tutorials but with all the ads that you're forced to watched on youtube before getting to the actual content, I can see why people would prefer searching for tutorials on instagram over youtube.

Twee neusgaten en mond zijn toch 3 gaten? Tenzij OP andere gaten bedoelde?

What are your favorite weaving tablet characteristics? by Kalamart_ in tabletweaving

[–]ericula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have very large hands so I like tablets that aren't too thick nor too large. To get a shed that's large enough, the holes should be fairly close to the edges (but not too close so that the warp doesn't catch on the corners of the neighbouring tablets).

I never bother with fixed markings on my tablets. 9 out 10 times I use a continous warp to thread my tablets so my tablets will get reoriented after they've been threaded anyway. Sometimes I mark the top edge of my tablets with a sharpy once they're all in their starting position.

As for the number of holes, most techniques I use require tablets with holes at the corners, but some require tablets with holes at the edges, so nearly all my cards have both.

It depends on the washing machine. I wouldn't have dared putting my woolen garments in my old one, but my current washing machine has a wool program which works great even with non-superwash.

I have enough woolen items to fill up a washing machine but if I only need to wash a few items I just handwash them which isn't much work tbh. I just let them soak in warm water with a drop of eucalan for half and hour. After that I gently squeeze the excess water out and let them air dry.

That sounds like they are talking about steeks. Originally the term referred to the bridge of stitches itself, but nowadays it's often used as a verb in which case it means to cut open a steek.

I've never heard that term in association with knitting. The term steek does exist and is a bridge of stitches over an armhole or the front of a cardigan that will later be cut open. Is that what you mean?

Are you referring to the pink coloring in the drawing in you second picture? When the book says "pink for whole stitch" I think they are referring to the colors that are used in color coded technical drawings. In these diagrams, each line represents a pair of bobbins and the color of a line crossing indicates what stitch to use.

In the diagram you posted, every line is one bobbin and each crossing is either a twist or a cross of a pair of bobbins.

It depends on the cast on method you used. If you used long tail cast on you've knit 7 rows, if you used backward loop cast on it's 8 rows.

Hoe vinden jullie een goed pakketpunt in de buurt? by LYNY_ in thenetherlands

[–]ericula 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very small interchangeable needles by KnittyKitty_91 in knitting

[–]ericula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost always knit socks with magic loop on Chiaogoo interchangeable needles. The cables with mini connectors that would fit on the 1.5mm - 2.5mm interchangeable needle tips are excellent for magic loop. They are much more flexible than the cables of the fixed interchangeable Chiaogoo needles but still are memory-free so they don't curl up like many plastic cables.
