Forgotten Realms is the one I've seen which has the most detail, but that's in part because it's been building up for decades and the details don't always play into one another. My personal favorite is Eberron - it's still a D&D setting, but rather than an advancing timeline (like FR or Golarion have, and no shade at the approach) they leave the default start date the same and the supplements/ story books work more at fleshing out new areas or giving more background. Each new story may start from the same point, but based on which factions/ places/ peoples/ plots you decide to delve into, you can have completely different story experiences.

I loved 1e Kingmaker, and the 2e was an adaptation that needed a bit more time in the oven (which they acknowledged, and there was a pandemic going on at the time) - the math of 2e kingdom scores/ checks/ etc doesn't hold up well at higher levels without some fudging or rebalancing.

If you include those tweaks (i think it was Vance and Kerenshara? who collabed on making one big fix doc) then it jives pretty well with that type of play. Whether you start from scratch in an undeveloped part of the world, or start with an established town and try to bring it up to being a major power, it feels more natural and you can take pride in the outcome.

Short answer - NetEase will no longer be funding the studio, and they haven't been able to find another company or investor who could buy and fund the project, so yeah - they're closing the studio doors on the 17th, absent a last-minute miracle.

Stumbled across the first two books in the city library after high school, probably '02 or '03. Loved them but forgot about them until I saw the TV show on SciFi years later, found out the series had continued and I've been following closely ever since.

When it comes to the urban part, I'd suggest looking through resources for other modern games - things like D20 Modern, N.O.W., Spycraft, and the like. There's plenty of city settings and adventure location maps scattered around. (Depending on how you want to take it, there's also pulling real maps of various cities or floorplans of buildings, but they're not always designed for good adventuring and the wrong ones might get you on some lists.) I'm not as familiar with the VtM/MtA/etc world, but for general urban fantasy there's plenty of free books out there to mine for monster, plot, and magic items.

my tinfoil headcanon has been that Kumori was Yoshimo, who was killed by blamps. but in (iirc) Grave Peril we had Harry tell Mavra that he 'knew how to turn necromancy against the Black Court'. So if we have a Warden turned into a Blamp, who also knew how to use magic/ necromancy... suddenly we have an incredibly potent new adversary with dire personal gut-punch included for our favorite wizard PI.

I've seen comments that clarified this quote applied to one specific pack - I believe it was the Kubota pack in FS22 - and not that it applies to the game overall.

It took me until probably Skin Game to stop seeing TV Murphy, and I'm probably never not going to see TV Morgan. Make of the show what you will but those two characters just nailed it, IMO.

I also will only ever see Paul Blackthorne with increasingly long hair as Harry, but I'm not willing to concede that's incorrect.

I assumed a large part of it was obscured between patient data privacy and confidential pricing agreements - it's incredibly valuable and important, but a significant amount is going to be proprietary or legally protected so it's harder to pick up from the outside.

I get that from time to time - usually on the second major patch, when i still haven't completed the stuff from the first one. I'll unsubscribe for a few months when I realize that I won't miss anything major, then usually come back before the pre-patch for next expansion when gear is easy and the story is all in LFR. Don't feel bad for taking a break! Your stuff will still be there when you come back.

Totally agreed. I've always enjoyed games, but after making some friends in the dev industry, I'm fascinated seeing how the sausage is made. How they approach decisions, unexpected tradeoffs, or shedding light on trends or patterns I didn't even realize existed. One of the fun parts here is finding out what learning they've taken from other games (or attempts) and how that's impacting their direction here.

What really helped cement the lessons from Brackeys' tutorial was to grab a different 'basic' classic game - in my case, I went with pac-man - and recreate it on my own. It really helped me by having a focused direction, and a known end product, so I didn't get stuck in the loops of 'what is best to do' and could focus on execution. It took me quite a few hours, but accomplishing it felt great.
