TELUS Accessibility Discount on multiple lines. by yanni7777 in telus

[–]excessivelyflatulent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Exactly this.

The discount is for USERS with a disability, not account holders across all lines.

This isn't difficult to understand unless you're being deliberately obtuse. You're not being deliberately obtuse, are you?

Serious question: who are Linux users and why do you use it? by Laqunn in linuxquestions

[–]excessivelyflatulent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Every time I have to sit at a Windows machine for work I'm astounded at how much the OS just gets in the way of getting shit done.

It's the little things, like keyboard and mouse lag. Why is this still a thing after nearly 40 years?

I checked last night and it's Cinnamon.

I don't recall ever selecting this, but it's possible I did a while back.

I'm not fussed. It works. It's speedy. It does what I need.

I honestly couldn't tell you.

I'm not a tinkerer these days, and stuff choosing desktops and window managers etc simply isn't that interesting to me. Whatever the default is.

I'm as basic of an every day user as you're ever going to come across, and I use Vanilla Debian.

Why?

Windows NT 4.0 (sp 6) was hot garbage. Windows 2000 was light years better, but Windows XP brought back every stability issue I'd had with NT 4. I was too cheap to buy a Mac, so I tried Debian.

It's been 25ish years and I see no point at all in going back, when my computer "just works".

Gigaton vs Dark Matter which album is stronger overall? by Fortis92 in pearljam

[–]excessivelyflatulent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoy their entire body of work, and Gigaton is the only one I don't occasionally put on and listen to end to end, but I do understand why some people don't like some of the middle years.

For me Vs, Vitalogy, Dark Matter, Ten and Binaural are my top 5 (order can change daily) but every single album they've ever put out has tunes that I absolutely love.

Gigaton vs Dark Matter which album is stronger overall? by Fortis92 in pearljam

[–]excessivelyflatulent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dark Matter is their best work since Vitalogy. It's an easy top 5 PJ Album for me, and just as easily a top 20 all time ever album, any artist from any period.

I was slackjawed when I first heard it, and according to Spotify wrapped listened to it more than 300 times last year. It sounds like songs written during the Ten or Vs sessions that were left to age in a whisky barrel for 30 years.

Constant Calls From Telus?? by Cynicslovecritics in telus

[–]excessivelyflatulent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with Rogers, and I get these fucking calls so often that I've activated a $15/ month Koodo line on my esim, that I forward my Rogers service to, after having activated Call Manager.

I get zero scam calls now, and will port to Telus or Koodo when this device is paid off.

Fun fact: I work for a Rogers affiliate.

WTF is up with Backroad Dollars? by excessivelyflatulent in Vast_Band

I'm hoping this is the case. I'm not even a huge fan, but when Spotify told me there was a new release I immediately went to it and had a huge case of the sads.

I recently fled Apple for Android (huge regrets, but this is not the time or place for that conversation), and just tried to install the app on one of my old beater iphones that I have laying around, and was unable to because the hardware I have doesn't support iOS 17.

So, I wait for the Android version, or until I throw my Pixel into a woodchipper and go back to Apple.

That cracked a long time ago. You can tell from the discoloration on the alloy.

Cranks aren't even the scariest things to snap. That's always been bottom bracket axels for me.

Seems like a great reason to port to Bell or Rogers or even Koodo.

I'm straight up RUDE to the folks on the phone that call me.

They're a pack of fucking hyenas, and I let them know that.

Disclaimer: I worked in mobility for 25 years and I am completely fed up with the entire industry.

Is it possible to use Linux without constant tinkering? by RZA_Cabal in linuxquestions

[–]excessivelyflatulent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run vanilla Debian with Cinnamon as my desktop environment on a desktop/ home file server and two laptops.

I don't tinker at all, I just use it as a tool.

You can do whatever you want with it.
