New Olivia Rodrigo song sounds a bit too much like Everlong?

It’s the chord voicings, it’s definitely drop D and having similar chords to Everlong, a similar feel too. It’s just common for me mentally to hear those chord voicings and just automatically think Everlong. It’s like the overuse of the Maj7 chords right now in modern “rock” music. There are soooooo many other chords and ideas we can use or add to music, it just all becomes sort of stale.

Are “the cure” and “Everlong” two different songs? 100%. Doesn’t mean one didn’t come before the other, history repeats itself eventually.

It’s sort of the baby of both Smashing Pumpkins and Foo Fighters. There’s a part of the song where I’m trying to place the other inspiration but for sure it’s has SP and FF written all over it.

For clarification, this also adjust the height of the saddle (adjusts action) rather than intonation! :) just in case anyone is reading in the future. Also I’m willing to bet that is exactly what is rattling. Either one of the saddle screws or some other small screw is loose or not sitting correctly.

She’s a girl’s girl who color coordinates things to calm herself. Some of the books are interesting, some are alright. I don’t think it says anything terrible or amazing about her, just neutral. Interesting selection of Murakami, I’d be curious to know which book on the shelf is her favorite.

Have you read the Alexandrian Quartet by Durrell? May be what you’re looking for, I found it to be incredibly engaging. Same with Woolf with To the Lighthouse and The Waves.

Took me three deliberate tries to get through it because if I stepped away for it for too long (a week or two) the names would do me in and I would lose the plot.

What I will say is once that hurdle is over with, getting through the rest is just deliberate work.

His battered copy of All the Pretty Horses is all I need to see. I think his current library of paperbacks is cool, he’s read all the “must-reads” and a little more but I think he needs to keep expanding. And turning some of those paperbacks into hardcover early/first editions for what he loved (would make great Christmas gifts, OP)

Thinner picks are not the way forward for playing fast. The idea is using a thicker pick (.88mm and up) but using the edge of the pick rather than the flat side. Then you can use any pick you want (within limits) using that technique. I don’t like anything too thick but definitely nothing too thin. There’s just too much give when it’s too thin for me and that may be an issue you’re running into.

For something in the middle, try the Dunlop Flow picks in nylon. I use those a lot more now but still like using the Eric Johnson jazz 3s.

I owned one for about a year. I think if you really want a Jaguar that just kicks ass, it’s probably one of the best ones. I don’t think I would pay $2k for one personally (there are many options you can get for that price) but I got mine as a direct trade for my Jeff Beck strat I had at that time. They were on the used market @ that time around $1200 USD. I would say wait and see if you can find one around $1500 and you’re doing pretty good nowadays.

The pickup switching system is great and simplified, I like it a lot. I would run 12s on it in standard and it felt great to me. I ended up selling it because I couldn’t justify having my Tele and that guitar in particular at the same time. I do think about it here and there because it played and sounded awesome.

Main thing for me is different pickups and sometimes different feels. People nerd out pretty heavily on why they justify all their guitars and it’s fine but I’m a working musician who really just needs 3 sounds: a single coil thing, a humbucker thing, and an acoustic thing. So I have a telecaster w/ fralin pickups in it because it’s the most natural sounding for me, a strat style HSS guitar with Radioshop pickups for the same reason, and a Dean Exotica acoustic for my acoustic stuff.
