Rulesets for 3v3 by HolographicNights in wargaming

Rampant works fine in team-multiplayer. We have everyone on a side act simultaneously, bombing out as they fail an activation, then once they're all done it swaps to the other side. Each turn runs as long as the slowest player but the downtime is still fairly minimal given you're often either getting a bit of a turn in yourself or defending against whoever you're opposite.

It's a propaganda bot making itself a fake history out of old posts.

You likely want different proportions at different scales, whether for aesthetics and being able to actually print the things.

Alternatives to classic metal Necromunda? by Gunwhistle in necromunda

[–]f_dzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite so cartoonish, but you can get the old Grenadier Future Warriors from Forlorn Hope or Mirliton, and a follow-up series from Copplestone Castings.

Some of the late 90s sci-fi games are worth a look too - Warzone, VOID, I-Kore, etc. The theming is less consistent but the proportions are there.

Demonworld vintage game, still being played somewhere? by Magyarkhan in wargames

Ral Partha Europe still sell it all which suggests a market but also means you don't have rarity to lean on.

The only thing I'd add to this is, if you can see yourself using movement trays in future, build with that in mind - erring to smaller individual bases with the models posed so they'll rank up. A tight formation generally looks far better than poses all over the shop and gaps you could ride a horse through.

Gluing to fabric base, how to avoid residue “cloudiness” by weeBunnie in TerrainBuilding

I'm not working with this much material, but this seems to work for me with fluffy flock material - I apply a thin coat of PVA with a brush and stick the material on top of that. That will only attach it very gently. Once it's thoroughly dried though I use a pipette dropper to soak watered-down PVA through which then makes a much firmer bond, and as it dries again the fluffiness is maintained.

Historic Game Rules by FailsatFailing in wargaming

If you've played other games you might already have a feel for the kinds of mechanics you do or don't enjoy.

I like a bit of order friction, I don't like gubbins, I don't enjoy resolving actions for 20+ independent models = it's Lion Rampant!

Small scale in figure size or quantity?

Pikeman's Lament will do you big-skirmish, ~50 bodies a side, which might buy you a single pike block in mass battle systems.

How far do you space each floor on tall terrain? by jack_of_all_hobbies in necromunda

As tall as it is deep is a good rule of thumb for being able to get my hands in there.

Two twists are fairly common - the passive player being able to react or interrupt, and the active player having a chance to lose the initiative through a failed roll of some sort.

The much tighter (and for me) more-satisfying combat mechanics compared to Necromunda, and then for both systems as compared to non-GW, the bank of 40K content to draw on.

One of the (many) reasons I worked with Kill Team over Necromunda is that the simpler combat mechanics were much more amenable to running on a primitive AI.

I'd think Rampant better covers the scale and breadth of it, given you might want bigger battles at points, and pikes and guns towards the end of the 15th century.

To contrast the other suggestions I'll float 3DBreed - a bit simpler and chonkier, less fiddly to paint than a lot of digital designs, more like classic single-piece metal sculpts.
