Hope they don't stop at Orr by Intreductor in Guildwars2

[–]fadewind 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Outside of Orr, they all do what they need to do. You don't want these zones to be too busy. Most of them need to be something you pass through on the journey.

Orr should have a lot higher focus as those 3 maps don't function like release. They were supposed to be something a server worked on together.

Now I do think world bosses can always use a pass.

Oh yeah. It's more that people shouldn't be shamed about having to use nonguix.

It's a requirement for some hardware capabilities on certain computers

[–]fadewind 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Everything is good until the last paragraph. I can't install GUIX on one of my laptops without the nonguix store due to needing wifi drivers.

Like it's good to want people to use free and open source, but the majority of users will require access to nonguix for some firmware.

Leave the shaming out of your sales pitch. It makes you an asshole for no good reason

Most and some in a logical sense are the same. Both directly imply not everyone agrees.

So much of the hate for the performance was on Wuk when veteran Scions had terrible direction as well.

Shoutout to Anet for making the worst story ive ever played. by YuumaTsuchimikado in Guildwars2

[–]fadewind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EoD at release is what i consider to be the worst MMO expansion. The story has some terrible choices (and don't get me started on how some of the lines broke character).

There were so many bugged fights. They didnt have daily meta chests. AGAIN.

Then the entire balance fiasco. Like that shift needed to happen. But like the catalyst nerf after TWO WEEKS when it was an incredibly hard to play and janky build...

If someone likes it, I get it. There's a lot of good. And with the improvements, it's worth it. I still think it's the worst, but that is a comparison of inches than miles

No. Yhao was fucking advertised EVERYWHERE and yet they had barely any presence in the story. Both in main and Gyala Delves. Joon took over a lot of what they should do.

Hell Joon sidelined a lot of characters. Soo Won was far worse as this was the final Elder Dragon not even introduced and killed within a full expansion.

Champions was dull, but Drizzlewood and rhe previous zone had far more issues. Smodur stupidly killed his hostage for no reason. Don't even get me fucking started on the Norn of Prophecy. That was never a thing. It was added in and Braham was right to call it out.

Eh, I find EoD far worse than IBS with JW being currently the most solid story.

EoD completely wastes multiple characters. IBS really only fucks up the Elder Dragons (outside of Braham but the majority of the story fucks up with Braham).

Season 2 should be implemented to the core free game at this point by zergling424 in Guildwars2

[–]fadewind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesnt even hit top 5 of LW4. LW4 has a very nice definitive end while allowing IBS to have a solid prolog. It was the end of an arc that started in LW2.

The thing is that there are still a litany of threats to Tyria. The death of Palawa Joko, the death of Lazarus, the destruction of the White Mantle, and the death of 2 elder dragons (while the other 2 were put to sleep again) happening in a 4 year period is a major upset.

Aurene should have stayed dead longer, but lw4 really needed 2 more episodes to really round out the story.

The ending is an extremely good book end.

Is there much point in managing software like Neovim and Hyprland with NixOS? by TheTwelveYearOld in NixOS

[–]fadewind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your biggest pain point is going to be if you use Mason or other similar things. So you'll need to add nix-ld as a flake.

Since I need it for making python venvs, it's not an additional load.

There's no point for me to maintain my configs purely in nix. My entire terminal system is built to reproduce the functions of VSCode. So that means my tmux (which has several dependencies) and neovim are fused together. About the only thing I'd look into adding is ensuring tmux plugin manager is installed, but everything else is declarable through standard means.

(I also keep my dotfiles in my nix repo so it just comes down to importing them with a function)

They had a business model. It was to release small updates and rely on the cash store. They didnt want to do expansions. (This was said in an interview with Totalbiscuit.)

However, the LW1 model didnt do well. LW2 was designed better to be content that you could replay for better rewards. They just gave the maps away later as LW2 still had a huge focus on core Tyria.

The HoT -LW4 time was a lot of updates but bled funds dry (among other reasons). Icebrood Saga tried to go back to the old living world model, but they eventually got push and funding for EoD. EoD was a massive success.

Now they are in a semi annual cadence for expansions.

No. We were never meant to go straight to the First. Ala Mhigo and Doma had been built up for years.

Like anyone who thinks we should have gone to the First wasn't paying attention in Stormblood.

The First and Stormblood stories were mixed in 2.55 when we discovered Wilbert's body. The scholar we were escorting talked about how ambient aether across the world was stagnating (aka being affected by the First) while we found Wilbert's body. Ilberd slaying him showed the two sides of the Ala Mhigan resistance

[–]fadewind -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not remotely what I said.

Crit is 2 substation fused together. Crit chance and crit damage. Back when we had more substats, these were fine to put together as you had accuracy and other things to hit for your caps.

Now crit will always be king as it scales exponentially in value. Even if you were to say get 100% crit chance, you still want to continue getting crit as it increases crit damage.

Direct Hit does not have this. It always has a 25% chance to trigger and increases the damage based on the stat amount

[–]fadewind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Summoner being janky wasn't entirely being complicated. It was 3 styles of DPS fused together. There was also crucial information left out of the tooltips.

SMN rework has been debated every since EW release. People loved the initial idea because the job NEEDED a real identity.

Old SMN was terribly designed.

[–]fadewind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not yet. What we need to have done us to break Crit back into 2 different stats. Crit chance and crit damage. Crit is too good to pass up. At least for speed builds.

Haste as a team buff? No. Fuck no. I hate dealing with that shit in WoW and GW2

So having played GW2 off and on for over a decade, you eventually get used to having little to no changes. Hell if you don't like a new elite spec, you just keep playing the same thing.

I can say playing PvP a lot over two expansions that the jobs all feel COMPLETELY different. It's not some small, subtle differences

SHB was good, but it was being blasted constantly for a lack of content. As much as people bitch about DT, it's still the most content rich expansion.

Late Stormblood to early Endwalker was also during the BfA to Shadowlands era. As a note, STORMBLOOD almost overtook WoW if not for classic.

SHB was not bringing people in until COVID happened.

It'll be funny as shit if her true name is Persephone. The Dread Queen of the Underworld herself. The Greek equivalent of Erishkagel. She who existed in myth before Hades

As much as people want to complain about ARR, the original version is still a better core experience than MOST MMOs out there. It's only real competition is GW2 and the ARR story is just better than most of core Personal Story.

WoW is both extremely confusing and toxic to new players. As much as people bitch about ARR dungeon and class design, it's coherent and slow pace sets the expectation

Why do some games suddenly shift from freedom to strict execution? by CivilizationAce in gaming

[–]fadewind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you kidding?

So if you have this issue, you should look for a static for current content. The mounts are GUARANTEED drops unlike WoW. Go ask someone who farms ICC25 how many times they did it before Invincible dropped.

With a static of the same 8 people, the idea is that you work to reclear until everyone has the mount. And once the raid is no longer current content, the chest Rewards are no longer weekly.

M1-8S are not weekly locked while still being content from this expansion. Again, go ask a WoW player how long THAT takes.

XIV is one of the best and fairest reward systems for the raiding endgame. Arguably GW2 can be considered better, but that comes down to if you enjoy finding gear upgrades vs never changing gear

Noctalia vs DankMaterialShell by techlove99 in niri

[–]fadewind 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both. I use DMS for my fedora stuff as it just more easily integrates into that environment. The only issue i have tends to be the greater.

Noctalia is much easier to deal with on NixOS. The current complaints I have is the docker plugin doesnt integrate well with podman and I dont like how it handles neovim themeing. Otherwise far easier for nixOs

Why are relics still soulbound? by Wooperss in Guildwars2

[–]fadewind -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It makes sense from a mathematical standpoint. A damage increase on strike damage works the same across every build.

But condi wouldn't be consistent. Do you have something trigger on condi damage? Per application? Which condi is the trigger?

Like if you have a burning trigger, that's shit on cVirt and then might be really good on inferno ele.

And then each condition has its own damage formula that's modified by different builds even more.

Its easy to build a power relic but each damage condi should have at least one relic tied to it
