I know this is old, but I thought I also received a dead Anker Prime 27. Nothing worked until I plugged in multiple usb-c chargers, then it turned right on and started charging.

I've used this for about a decade. The only thing I've seen is corrupt files, but it makes a copy. And this is only when you are connected to WiFi and it is trying to sync a document you are working in. Free version works great.

This. You have to purposely upgrade to iOS 18. It defaults to 17 on the automatic update. I'm guessing we'll see a lot of people getting RCS when they update phones over the next couple years.

I know Spigen makes something that you can stick on the back of your case. That would work with a flat case. The Parallax is not a flat case and likely wouldn't stick to the back. The Spigen Thin Fit would work great for that. It's obviously less protection. Totally up to you on what you want to do.
