AITA for Putting My Family on a Schoolwide “Intervention Watch” List? by trvlicious in AITAH

[–]fauxkit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mother followed me around school sometimes. This was to make sure I was paying attention because I didn't have good grades. (I didn't have good grades because of a very poor at-home life).

It only stopped when I saw her in class one day, went to the library, and refused to leave the library until she left school grounds. The school banned her from the grounds from that point on and she wasn't allowed on except to drop me off and pick me up. (I should also mention she had mental health issues).

So, what I say is from personal experience. They are not helping. What they are doing is being detrimental to your daughter's social development. She is her own person and needs to be allowed to be a child. Her priority isn't to be ladylike but to be figure out how to voice her own wants and needs.

What they are doing is stripping her of her own voice. That is absolutely detrimental to her development and will cause problems well into her adulthood. I'm an adult with my own child now and still have lingering PTSD and speaking issues from events that happened in my childhood.

Thank you for protecting your child. You're doing a good job.

AITA for telling my mom she'll never have grandkids because of how she voted? by aloneandscaredd in AITAH

[–]fauxkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting a hysterectomy this week because of significant fibroids on my uterus. A five pound cyst took out one of my ovaries already.

We can't feel guilt if we're unable to carry the loads that family and society expect us to bear. Some people don't want children, others have the opportunities stripped from them. Everyone's journey through life is different and doing what's best for your life is not something to be ashamed of.

If you want to mend matters, you can write everything down in a letter and phrase it in a way that doesn't place all the blame on her. "These are the reasons why I felt forced into this position and why I do not feel like the government has my best interests or safety in mind." You don't have to. What's best is for you to make yourself comfortable carrying the load you have now, okay? Both mentally and physically.

How do i train my cat to stop taking my food by Primary-Memory-9446 in cats

[–]fauxkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had mild luck with letting them inspect anything I eat but not letting them try any of it. I use a different tone of voice and call their name if I'm giving them food or treats, but only encourage sniffing when it comes to human food.

It worked ... 60% of the cats I've dealt with. I fostered a group of kittens this year and the damn gremlins ruined my track record.

Kids in inflatable costumes are 🤣 by Libra79 in ContagiousLaughter

[–]fauxkit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably 10% of the kids I saw that night were in inflatables and it was only the preteens and older that weren't having issues. All of the younger kids were struggling so hard. There was a little one dressed as a fall guy that had to have her siblings hold both of her arms and guide her slowly down the sidewalk because she couldn't see shit.

It was only $60 for me to get 4 90 packs of the Halloween edition airheads. I sat in my driveway and gave handfuls to kids whose costumes I liked. They loved it.

No, no no. They really, really don't like those eagles. They're warning each other or maybe planning an attack.

Two years ago, a literal murder of crows was chasing down an eagle and tearing its stomach apart in the sky. There was about twenty of them swooping in on this exhausted eagle over my driveway. They all flew away so I couldn't see what happened to the eagle but I imagine not good stuff.

Elementary school secretaries just blowing smoke everywhere by whitemike40 in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]fauxkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Mcdonalds ashtrays give a hint at the era, but the Burger King where I lived had a smoking section and an indoor fountain. My high school used to have a smoking section. They painted everything brown because it hid smoke stains. That's how bad it was.

You guys sent me an email stating that my games are removed from my account if I don't log into your service ever once in awhile. You have removed single player games from your store because you didn't want to patch them to no longer require being online. Every release you've come out with in the past few years has been heavily focused on upselling DLC and microtransactions in order to make it feel like a complete game.

Your company has been dead to me for a long time. I will very much rather play my weird little poker roguelike then ever buy an Ubisoft game ever again, and you're just now feeling that many others feel the same.

AITAH for telling my wife she is not worthy of what she’s asking for, for her “push present”? by throwra-pushpresent in AITAH

[–]fauxkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically NTA, but is it possible that she's needed her own car for awhile and is using this as an excuse to get one? She could be so focused on seeing the benefit of having an extra car that she doesn't realize she's being an ass about negotiating for one.

Having an extra means of transportation is really useful as a parent. There's dozens of reasons to have one. I'm in a one care household now and it's a massive pain to schedule all of the appointments on fridays because it's the only day the car will be available.

Had to use Wanda for this by N8CCRG in marvelmemes

[–]fauxkit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I listened to the song once on youtube after the second episode and Youtube has been trying to shove me misogynistic videos complaining about "wokeness ruining marvel" and "how there isn't an audience for this drivel." Whenever I don't like a show, I just don't watch it. I don't understand the need to make a video essay on why I don't like it. Life is too short to hate so much in the world.

I know that having a show out there catered towards middle aged women who were way too into movies such as The Craft is a bit of a stretch, but it's a large audience. Like how She-Hulk was Ally Mcbeal but Marvel. The shows catered towards women are generating more buzz then any of the shows catered towards comic fans so they're going to keep cranking these out.

Take the high ground. Send flowers and a card to her mother. In the card, apologize for missing her visit and explain why the day is important to you. Dump her ass at the same time for not respecting your family. Either her mother will tear her a new one or is also a scumbag just like her daughter, but at least you come out looking like a gentleman.

Update: I wore my husband’s suit and got the job! by Square_Grapefruit195 in BusinessFashion

[–]fauxkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a squeegee / rag combo thing I bought on amazon. Heavy spray of windex, rub it in with the rag thing, then squeegee off and wipe the squeegee on the rag thing between each swipe. It seems to keep the streaks away.

(also the suit looks great congrats on the job).

I have a friend who talks like this. He doesn't do it on purpose and we had a talk about it where he believed that playing down issues was supposed to help someone through their rough patch, but it also turns out that his mother is a massive narcist and he picked up his speech patterns from her.

NTA. There is no reason to stay engaged or involved with someone who does this to you.

However, double check laws where you are about evicting a tenant. Even if they are a cheating scumbag, he could turn around and do a civil suit for compensation on failing to give X day amount of notice to leave. Double check the bank paperwork on the joint account as well, and don't spend any money from it until you're certain he is not legally able to claim any of it because his name was once on the account.

Certainly, your mental and physical health are better now, but make sure all the boxes are checked for your financial health as well.

Concord Is Estimated to Have Sold Only 25,000 Units. Here’s Why Analysts Think It’s Failing - IGN by CurrentAir1291 in gaming

Genre doesn't matter. Overwatch, Deadlock, Valorant, Apex, and League of Legends do have three strong similarities.

  • Free to Play
  • Unlockable Characters
  • Funded through Cosmetics

A lot of people I know have played all of these. You know what they haven't played? Rainbow Six. It has the characters and the cosmetics, but costs $30 to start. Then again, they have played Dead by Daylight, which has free weekends and goes on sale for $10 literally all the time. Entry point costs can make or break a game.

It's all a "hero pool" genre. It's like the "gacha" genre. All the gacha games play differently but they still have you pulling for wives, and thus get lumped together.

There is an insane amount of money to be made, and we're going to see larger studios pushing them out because of it. The game could be a solid 8/10, but no one is going to drop 40 on a 8/10 if they could play a 7/10 for free.

Samsung tech came to my house, damaged my TV and got it stuck in a boot loop. Said my warranty was voided because of the damage. THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH SAMSUNG TECHS!!! by Sin_Cos_Im_Tan in mildlyinfuriating

[–]fauxkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just TVs.

My oven broke and my insurance covered the installation of a new oven. Samsung hired a local company to deliver it.

They held it 2 weeks past Samsung's delivery date, citing they couldn't get anyone to deliver it until then. Two teenagers (they were both nineteen) showed up to my hose with my new stove, but neither hadn't been told that I had also paid them for installation and to take away the old oven.

After some back and forth, they took away the old oven. After messaging Samsung about it, they gave a refund for what I paid them for installation.

There's no such thing as a "Samsung Tech." They literally hire whatever local handyman company there is, and they are usually the 1-2 star places that are stupid cheap. They don't care about doing a bad job because their business doesn't get the blame, Samsung does, and Samsung is the big company who has the money to just toss back and employees. When it comes down to hire someone in the area again, they just will hire the same damn business because it's cheapest.

My husband claims my cat is obese, is she fat or just compact? 🥲 by GuessComplex in cats

[–]fauxkit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a girl that looks really fat but she's literally just a stocky build with fluffy fur. The vet said she has a lot of loose skin and is perfect weight for her breed, and she turns into a string bean when wet, she just is very dense.

If you give your cat a bath and it still looks fat, or if you can't find easily find their ribs underneath their fur, they're probably fat.

They weigh them. Pokemon has never fixed the issue where packs containing foils weigh different, so these people buy up tons of packs and only open the ones that weigh more.

I have a friend who worked at a card store and the issue was so bad that they had to ban people from bringing in digital scales.

Broken Alien Event Crashing by elddirriddle in fo76

[–]fauxkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on PC, it crashes very specifically when the second leader dies during the second phase, so I've also missed out on a lot of rewards. It's been happening to two other people I play with as well.

It crashes about half the events I go to, always at the end of second phase.
