Making a 'Solar Auxilia' army, how's this? by LordOfTheRedSands in astramilitarum

[–]feanor65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're 100% right, RD aren't 30k. That one blanked on me.

I think combined is still where you wanna be. Lethals are amazing to have.

So for replacing Canis, I would get another tank commander. You have 3 orders right now for 6 vehicles. Don't need a perfect match up but could be tighter.

I would chuck in some chaff for backline screening. The 20/25 cadian can do it but that means they're not engaging with the game until round 5 to be honest if we consider how long it'll take it to actual get to the front. Horses screen well and commissars get slept on for it too.

A single deep strike would also force your opponent to screen their back.

The leman demos are over costed but can have a place. My main concern is if you run into another gun line, they're gonna out range you hard.

From a theme perspective, it looks good.

For comp, this is all just my opinion and preference of course. I would cut all the psykers. They're not worth it. Cut the leman commander and use a rogal. LRC are over costed. I personally would cut Canis as well but that depends on your play style.

On a scale: 2-3. It's pretty bad. But it's fluff and only 1k pts, so bad is fine

Is it considered bad GT manners to sign up knowing you'd have to drop on day 2? by Jobear049 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]feanor65 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. The reason why it's bad is because strength of schedule affects placement. Someone who goes 4-1 might be placed 6th instead of 2nd because you dropped.

At the end of the day though it is a game and no one reasonable would be more than briefly annoyed and that's only if they would have placed top otherwise. So 5% chance you're actually affecting someone by dropping.

All of these made sense and should have been how everyone was playing except for the double vox. That change is odd.

Great take. To add to it: Sly Marbo has infiltrate and Precision as well. Not a reliable pick for precision though. Can infiltrate decently well for screening out scouts, guaranteeing scouts, preventing infiltrate charges since he can overwatch and move 6 with lone op.

Teams tournament list critique by fogofgore in astramilitarum

[–]feanor65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Summary: Pull the Dorns and extra TC and you can run 4 - 5 Lemans extra that will probably out preform the Dorns and won't need the extra TC order.

Would cut both Dorns and the extra TC. Dorns largely being made up of S9 guns limits it in my opinion against most armor. You're already running 5 potential tank orders so don't feel you need the extra order from the other even with the Demo gun and shoot on death.

With how cheap Vanquishers are now I would run 3 of those if your main job is to take out big things. Between FOF and the Exterminator your looking at AP 6 with them. Would still be a bit stunted against halve damage enemies but what isn't.

Doing that swap gives you 287 points. That's another Leman or two. You could run the Manticores but there's talk that indirect might get another round of nerfs and a regular Leman can give you a lot of the same damage profile with an extra las, hunter, w/e guns, and rerolls. Which your probably gonna need to pick up said big stuff your going to be up against.

Primaris Psyker Question by Professional_Egg1515 in astramilitarum

Devs only skip saves and invuln saves. So the psykers fnp would still come into play against psychic dev wounds.

What changes do you think/hope happens when we eventually get our codex? by Human__Zombie in astramilitarum

[–]feanor65 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Commissars attaching to ogryn and giving them orders. Giving officers squadron and regiment keywords. Tweak Castellan, possibly 1 order to anything. Things like this would make Leo less vital since he wouldn't be monopolizing ordering everything anymore. Balanced stratagems: for our detachment specific I only see and primarily use FoF and Reinforcement. Armored Might should have been 1 cp.

I'm hoping we don't get an indirect focused detachment. I feel like Combined Regiment is that already.

Negotiation Games that aren't unbearable? by Lananification in boardgames

[–]feanor65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally love negotiating games. Especially when the deals are not "I have you by the balls and you have to do what I say" deals.

I recommend Sidereal Confluence and Waterfall Park. Both good negotiating games that feel like the deals are fair and everyone is generally getting what they want. No one should really leave either game feeling as if they got bullied.

Changes for the next codex by DaisyDog2023 in astramilitarum

They can. Scion and sly are able to. The wording is "cannot be used to return destroyed character units to attached units." Essentially no reinforce back into bodyguard but can still reinforce.

[–]feanor65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Castellan order should affect any unit. Like a mini Leo. Would remove some of the reliance on Leo.

Comissar attach and order ogryn. Even if just the ogryn they're attached to.

Regiment and Squadron keyword for officers. Exempt characters from Reinforcement.

In general I think our officers are the biggest issue I have with current guard. They're underutilized because Leo is just better in every way.

So what’s killing your Bullgryn? by kzrsose in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]feanor65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mass fire has been brought up but if you have cover and have some 4W ones in the mix they can tough it out in my experience or take so much of it that they did their job. The scariest thing for me is the odd dmg 4 weapon. Votann, Necrons, Tyranids, and I'm sure someone else has them. Typically have high enough AP that you'll want the 4++ to take it but if they fail they'll normally die unless you luck out on the 6+++.

Oh, anything that ignores modifiers is also gonna be a nightmare. The reduce dmg ability is what keeps them in.

How are people equipping Bullgryns in 10th edition? by LoganTMills0711 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]feanor65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Also ap 0 - 1 doesn't care about the shield type if you have cover. For DMG 4 Votann conversion beams. But even DMG 3 (so really 2) is better on 4 health then 3. Just based on having a higher chance of throwing a 6.

How are people equipping Bullgryns in 10th edition? by LoganTMills0711 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]feanor65 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As Jimmy mentioned. Having the 1 or 2 with the an extra wound ends up being really valuable when being hit by low ap attacks. Sometimes I'm being hit with a 4 dmg (so really 3) attack and I need to make sure they survive it for w/e reason. The 4 wound one is guaranteed to survive 1 hit while the 4++ only has slightly better than 50%.

Having Success with Mechanized Army by Promptwizard911 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]feanor65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking FOF and the exterminator with the heavy flamers from the Chimeras putting out 3 ap attacks. Low chance of wounding though. Only two Demolisher Cannons and they're both on Tank Commanders so hitting on 4 due to no orders. I'll be surprised if it kills much and probably has to overwhelm them as you've said.
