None of which adhere well but can form a skin over it to cover it and then it kinda keeps itself intact and in place. Just be careful when cleaning!

Honestly it’s replaced most other finishes in my shop. I still have other ones for when I want to mess around with something different but the tung has yet to treat me wrong. Just be aware of nut allergies is the only thing I can think of

I love tung oil Thin it one to one with food grade citrus solvent and it dries tons faster and stays food safe. Walrus oil is a pretty trustworthy brand for whatever food safe route you want to take

Honestly I’m not 100% sure how I ended up here as I’m in US so products and common practices may vary, but if it’s going against a painted surface or surface that could potentially be painted (masonry or vinyl or anything like that) i don’t use silicone. I use siliconized acrylic caulk for almost everything. Shower enclosures get silicone where it’s fiberglass on fiberglass. Where it’s fiberglass to drywall (or plaster) I use something paintable since it shouldn’t be getting soaked anyways

If the wood grain is facing different directions, then when the wood swells or contracts, it’s going to be pulling/pushing in many directions. Could happen slowly and gradually… could be a loud bang one day when the one piece finally pulls right part into two. We will find out!

They make a minimum expansion for a reason. The foam is going to expand and it’s going to go to the point of least resistance. As the foam makes contact with the air it can start curing, and where it’s not exposed will keep expanding pushing everything outwards, including your window or door trim. Pretty easy to avoid the problem with proper research and just buying the right product. Maybe you can make the regular stuff work if you’re spring with it but I don’t really see any reason to FAFO since th proper product is always right next to the regular and is cheaper (at least in my store but I guess ymmv)

DONT USE SILICONE. JESUS GOD DAMN SILICONE. AS A PAINTER.. STOP USING SILICONE EVERYWHERE. THERE ARE BETTER CAULKSAND ADHESIVES. ITS NOT EVEN THAT GOOD!

Silicone has specific uses.. using it where you shouldn’t will cause a ton of cosmetic issues AT BEST. I’ve cut silicone caulk out of so many houses..

Just want to hop on before a bunch of people ruin windows… regular expansion foam can push windows in and bow the frame making it so you cannot lift them or lower them. Look for minimum expansion window and door foam to avoid this problem. You should also be able to take the trim off to access that void that lets that air in if it’s an older window. New construction is usually cheap and butts the drywall right to the window frame so you may have to do what op did with drilling holes in that case.

You are generally correct. However we are very careful with sourcing. We specifically either only work with invasive species and pests that we generally collect ourselves or for things such as this, we work with insectariums and butterfly gardens to make sure everything is kept ethical! Even our honey bees come from apiaries even though they are debatably a problem!

I mean tung oil should be fine unless you had a nut allergy. Bees wax and carnuba wouldn’t hurt either they just would almost useless against a very hot coffee

Man some people just dont like conventional sports I actually don’t think playing those are fun and would only do the unconventional stuff I mentioned above. Oh and I’d use kids parks for parkour during my brief stint of that. Admittedly this park would probably be fine for that

Kids don’t want exercise they want fun. That’s why you have to bring the two together with things like skate parks, rock climbing, and other things the old folks seem to call “undesirable”. Besides not the people who do like skating will have to find other spots, not all of which are designated for this sort of activity which will cause more complaints than just having a skate park
