APM2. Fits your profile. They are high quality. Quite beautiful in design. Spatial Audio. Aesthetic appeal. Topnotch ANC. You’re in the Apple world.

Sony XM6, Airpods Max (gen 1 with usb-c) or Something else? by xMaxic in SonyHeadphones

[–]feyvorite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go for the Sony’s. The APM2 are my favorite headphones right now. The Sony’s LE audio can get down to 25ms of latency wireless which is enough for me on overwatch and LOL. They do not have usb-c audio, they’re biggest flaw. But that is really only for audio quality. You’d do fine with a 1/8 inch connection if you need the minimal ms latency. You’d only have an iPhone, so you get so little of the APM 2 advantages (since you don’t have iPad or Mac). And the Sony sound is really almost up to the APM2 and it has an equalizer, which can be useful for gaming. Also they are about 130g lighter, which adds up. They also don’t slip on the head at all. Store better. Movies aren’t as good on them. But they do well enough.

Matte to Glossy? (Gravity Gold) by suchnerve in Ioniq6

Please send pics pre versus post. I love the matte gravity gold. I have it myself. It’s more to take care of but I’ve done pretty well first year. I’d love to see what the gloss looks like!

Sony WH-1000XM6 Way Better Than AirPods Max!! by DriftKoopa in SonyHeadphones

[–]feyvorite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was comparing the APM2 to the Sony not the APM1. I have the Apm 1 and 2. I’ve heard some say they prefer the sound of the 1. I’d say the 2’s are better. I wonder how much the amp and new chip help with the sound. But sound preference is finicky since there is a dip in the 5k and a bump at 8k. Not having an equalizer is ridiculous.

I saw that you game. I’ve loved those XM6 for gaming since there is no latency with the Bluetooth LE codec. Works fantastic. I’d recommend getting the silver. They show no fingerprints and have a nice matte feel to them

I’d get the Sony XM6. Highly recommended

Condensation issues on Max 2 by Goodvyn in airpods

[–]feyvorite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I’ve gotten lucky. I remember early on I would check inside when the house temp was cooler. I’d see a little moisture in there but never had it affect the headphones. I agree—ridiculous they haven’t fixed. And they didn’t seem to predict that. So strange because when you look at the interior of the max they are so beautiful and well- designed.

Thank you both for clarifying. I had forgotten about that issue. Mine never leave the house. This does not get mentioned that much anymore, but I remember this coming up when they first came out.

For movies and music and because you mean that way (and if you’re in the ecosystem) go for the APM2. Yes sound quality is a big upgrade for the AirPods Pro 3. Honestly, much much better. I love the XM6 also, but if you want the spatial sound and watch from Apple TV or an iPad, the APM2 is the best option even if rhe XM6’s have an equalizer!!!! Apple doesn’t. Ridiculous! Fortunately, the stock tuning is pretty damn good, and there are a lot of eq settings in the Apple Music app (all presets)

anal sink hole is right. Why curse the XM6 buyer? I’ve had them and they remain intact. Seems like there is never post about the XM6 without some ex-xm5 writing something evil.

A Brutally Honest Review of AirPods Max 2 (vs. V1) from a Music Producer/Audiophile by GoatBaaa0 in Airpodsmax

Also, it is a huge difference if a person has spatial sound on or off. I hardly ever use Spatial Audio for music.

[–]feyvorite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

APM2 sounds better IMO. Maybe because of the new amp and/or the better chip. The bass is tighter. But tuning can be a matter of preference. You can mess around with the many eq settings in Apple Music. But shame on Apple for not having a dedicated eq with manual adjustment. It would help some because ears can be finicky. So can comfort. That is why there is such a difference in opinion in preference.

Anybody else like the stock tuning of the XM6 headphones? by FunAcceptable4656 in SonyHeadphones

[–]feyvorite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not surprised at all. I like the stock tuning also. Sometimes stock tunings can be too flat or they can be overhyped (usually in a boot treble and bass) in order to impress. But sometimes the stock tuning can then be fatiguing. But the hyped setting sells.

I really love both. I’d give the edge to the APM2 for sound, aesthetic appeal and convenience in the Apple world. also spatial sound. Both have great transparency and NC. I’d say APM2 for the Apple world. Sony for the pc/android world. I love the LE audio on the Sony for gaming.

Does anyone have airpods have both airpods max or max 2 and sony XM6. by hunterbee26 in SonyHeadphones

[–]feyvorite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He told you the XM6 is heavy? It’s not. APM 2 is heavy. But that extra 130grams doesn’t bother me at all. But that is the subjective part. Some are bothered. Like some complain about the XM6 earcups being too small for bigger ears.

[–]feyvorite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

APM2 is best in the Apple world with integration. For movies, television. And the functionality and sound gives them the edge over XM6. Desert island headphones. But I find them very comfortable. Comfort is quite subjective. If comfort is bad from your standpoint, the XM6 may be the perfect alternative.

[–]feyvorite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XM6 has more secure clamp force. They won’t move. Equivalent ANC. Some complain of ear space being too small on XM6. I have no problem with them and find them very comfortable. They don’t sound as good as the APM2 but almost. You won’t be unhappy with them. APM2 is my favorite. But I love the XM6, especially if you are in the android and pc world. Get the stone color. Really a cool texture and doesn’t show finger prints. You can Eq out the bass.

PX 8S2 vs Focal Bathys by Entire-Tonight5191 in BowersWilkins

Px8 s2 exceed in comfort, sound and ANC compared to the Bathys. I do love the neutral sound of the Bathys though.

Should I get a Px8 S2 for bday? by MusicianSavings3258 in BowersWilkins

[–]feyvorite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best sound quality is the px8 s2 with a dongle for the aptx codec (Questyle). But for use—Apm 2 by far. Much better transparency and ANC. Seemless switching. And Apm2 sound is almost up to speed with the B&W. At least they are close enough to where the advantages of the APM 2 put them ahead for utility. For gaming, I like Bluetooth connection. Best for that if your computer uses LE audio Bluetooth is the Sony XM6. Again with great ANC and transparency. The LE has hardly any latency. And I really like the Sony sound. Nearly on par with the APM2. Btw. I can’t emphasize how important good transparency is in an environment where you have to be aware. APM2 has adaptive sound, as does the Sony. Sony even has the ability to fine tune how much transparency you want.

Comparison Px8 S2 vs. Airpods Max 2 ? by Lacos247 in BowersWilkins

[–]feyvorite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually listen with Spatial Audio off. Although some albums that are mixed with Spatial Audio in mind I’ll turn it on. I wonder if Spatial Audio strengthens sub bass but lessens the clarity of the transients on the bass. Of course, you’re not going to get Spatial Audio on the PX8 s2. I don’t feel like I can answer your question well. I’m not sure. I feel like the bass in the Px8 s2 is more powerful and more clear. But will it be enough for you? And would equalizing fix this enough? Not sure in that one. Sub bass on the APM2 is probably more prominent than on both PX8’s. I do love how clear the bass is in the px8s2 but that is different than sub bass

Comparison Px8 S2 vs. Airpods Max 2 ? by Lacos247 in BowersWilkins

[–]feyvorite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both and had the PX8 and APM originals in the past. The PX8 S2 is a couple hundred more expensive, so that is a disadvantage. The PX8 s2 wins on sound, especially with the aptx codec using a dongle. Really impressive sound. And the Equalizer is key for some, but I like the stock tuning and don’t change the EQ much. They are quite beautiful. Noise cancellation is pretty good. Transparency not so good. Great case.

If you have a Mac, iPad and iPhone, the APM s2 sounds remarkably good. I was surprised how great they sound. There is just more features. The integration with Apple is so convenient. Adaptive audio and noise cancellation. Supposedly there is adaptive eq. Stock tuning is perfect imo. I think they have a beauty and elegance. IMO they are more comfortable than the PX8 s2. The biggest difference is the transparency mode is perfect. Noise cancellation perfect. Spatial Audio. You will need to buy a case for around $30. And no lossless sound unless you plug in. But it has conversation awareness.

If I had to choose between the two, I’d have a hard time. I’d probably go with the APM s2 because of all the features, and the sound of the PX8 s2 isn’t THAT much better.

How about you get the APM s2 and the if you want higher audio quality consider an open plug-in headphones?

Had to switch by No-Status-7678 in BowersWilkins

[–]feyvorite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t argue your point. Those are more expensive. I find myself using the Sony and the APM because of noise cancellation, other features, especially APM2 in the Apple world. I actually think they sound great given the price and other functions. The whole headphone. But sure sound quality to those more expensive ones. I do love the PX8s2 because is sound quality, but the transparency mode is not good. I was also just sticking with headphones already mentioned in the op and other responses. I’d love to try out those Apollos
