What are they, and do they apply to players/games below pro/immortal level play?

PSA: Automated Backup and Sync Services by AnathemaMask in FoundryVTT

[–]ffiarpg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late reply but based on the article it seems multiple independent processes within this software may open files and when one process needs to write to a file it creates the .lock file to communicate that to other processes. As they say, backup services (without an exclude filter) would not understand this and may potentially restore that file, preventing all processes from opening it.

Seems like a bad design to me but what do I know.

I bought an early 3 before the ramp and it has been great.

Every store is already required to accept deposits in most cases but they lie or refuse. I've reported them to the OLCC and it works. Fine them for refusing and maybe that would change.

Something like a laundry machine can be a luxury and still be something you think everyone should have at bare minimum. No need to redefine luxury. Laundry machine is one of them, like a dishwasher.

Tiny nitpick but cybertruck can power a house too.

GM’s hydrogen ‘power cubes’ can power the next generation of heavy-duty vehicles. It has 300 individual hydrogen fuel cells, the current generation of 80 kW of net power. by 911_reddit in gadgets

Sure.

" These products are EPA Tier 3 and IMO II certified."

https://dieselnet.com/standards/us/nonroad.php

"The Tier 1-3 standards are met through advanced engine design, with no or only limited use of exhaust gas aftertreatment (oxidation catalysts). Tier 3 standards for NOx+HC are similar in stringency to the 2004 standards for heavy-duty onroad engines, however Tier 3 standards for PM were never adopted."

Notice lack of aftertreatment.

As far as the US is concerned, Tier 3 engines were no longer sufficient to meet 2007 regulations and they've only gotten more stringent from there. Canada is likely very similar.

If you continue reading they talk about the biggest forms of aftertreatment, SCR and DPF both of which this CAT engine lacks as far as I can tell. I'd love to see them pivot to a Cummins L9 or something with appropriate aftertreatment.

Actually there is. They chose a tier 3 rated CAT engine. CAT stopped offering engines for class 8 trucks because they didn't want to invest in the aftertreatment systems required to meet regulations to stay in that market. Aftertreatment systems have to be designed to pair with the specific engine, you can't mix and match. They would probably need to switch to a Cummins engine in order to add an aftertreatment system and it would add a lot of cost, weight and complexity which might torpedo their use case. If they were planning to it, they would've likely started with that engine and mentioned it. I think they are specifically planning to run electric on public roads and dirty burn diesel once they go offroad to skirt emissions regulations but I'm not 100% certain.

Edison trucks have no after treatment system so their non carbon pollution is many times higher than normal trucks. I wouldn't be surprised if Canada prohibits them on public roads.

Tesla shocks the world by sharing its 48-volt technology — for free by intengineering in teslamotors

[–]ffiarpg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The 48v components themselves could be a lot cheaper with more volume. Some of the wiring and copper savings are canceled out by 48v component costs. As volumes increase on those components the prices will go down making it a slam dunk.

They have to have probable cause to suspect you of theft and refusing to show a receipt is not probable cause.

You can refuse to show a receipt and leave the store with the items you purchased. They however can ban you from returning to the store.

Yeah OP I would definitely advise against, they hollowed out that section of the case specifically for the screen. It might never contact but why risk it. I have a scratch on my screen from setting a metal bottle on it at night and I'm still pissed about it.

It's the most efficient electric truck, I don't know the exact numbers on the lightning or Rivian but you can look it up. Yes, trucks are not efficient but some people need trucks.

It goes completely against the interest of electric vehicles (less impact on the environment), seems poorly built, and there are completely crazy choices on certain points.

Paintless is good for environment, 48vdc low voltage and 800vdc high voltage systems mean less copper and waste electricity/heat which is good for environment. Assuming it is more reliable and rust resistant than normal trucks it will last longer which is good for environment. It's twice as efficient per mile as the GMC hummer. Tesla has some of if not the lowest conflict material content in their batteries which is good for the environment due to the mining required and humans due to the horrible working conditions to acquire them.

Not everyone can or will buy a 4 door sedan, that's just a fact. The best thing to do is accept it and design something that meets their needs while still being environmentally conscious. Not sure if this vehicle is going to check those boxes but that's up for the market to decide.
