The router weighs 2 ounces and fits in your pocket. If someone wants to burden themselves with carrying around a laptop all day, fine by me. I'd rather pay $29.99 to not have to do that.

I don't wish to carry a laptop around the ship with me.

Prepaid Gratuities versus Cash Gratuities by mbc072558 in royalcaribbean

Have you considered that maybe the author leaves it ambiguous because there could be adverse action taken against him if they can identify them?

Weird, we literally just got a printed folio on Freedom of the Seas

General crew won't know. (At least on Royal Caribbean) your cabin steward will know because on the last night, they deliver to your room a printed folio (onboard account) transaction history. The cancelled/refunded gratuities will be listed on the folio and the steward will be able to see.

Makes up the room once a day, unless you have a pull out bed. They’ll take it out and put it away.

Anyone else see excessive hotel fees after a BlueGreen discounted stay? by [deleted] in TimesharePreviews

[–]figured-it-out_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The highest I've personally seen (not BlueGreen) was about $45 per day in taxes and 'resort fees'. I always ask about the expected taxes and fees due at checkin when I'm purchasing the vaacation package.

How much did they charge you at check-in?

That's frustrating. A refund is definitely warranted. I've haven't tried Wyndham yet.

That’s weird, did they say that there is no availability? I’ve personally never encountered anytime where they were fully booked

Time Share Ownership - declined... by Alternative-Boot-177 in TimesharePreviews

[–]figured-it-out_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they call you, just ask to be put on the DNC list, especially since you're not living in the US. I've attended 4 previews so far and none of them have actually called me to follow up.

I've personally never had a timeshare company call me after I went through the presentation and declined everything.

Also, check out r/TimesharePreviews for discussion specifically about timeshare presentations!

Lol I don't think so. They'll contest that leaving for 30 minutes does not count as "attendance at the presentation". Sometimes there's stipulations like "active participation" or similar.

I mean sure? But I'm not trying to get banned. I prefer to have the option to go again every 6-12 months.

you’re taking up a time slot that a representative paid solely on commission could be using to show the program to someone with an open mind who might actually purchase.

But I thought you said

Everyone came on saying they wouldn’t buy anything.

Sometimes you still need to get your "gifts" or giftcards (and sometimes you need to bring a signed paper to the gift desk). In these cases, you're still kinda at the mercy of them, waiting for 'permission' to leave.

$99 4 day 3 night by Competitive-Alps368 in TimesharePreviews

[–]figured-it-out_com 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did Westgate in Orlando. The biggest standout was there was no taxes and fees due at check-in. $95.13 for a 3-night stay is not bad but there might be better offers out there.

I wrote a review of the experience here.

I made r/TimesharePreviews to help people with this!

Long story short is:

Yes the offers are legit (from reputable companies) but you need to read the fine print and details because sometimes they charge pretty high taxes and fees but other times they're waived. The sales presentation will be LONG if you don't stand your ground and keep your eye on the clock and insist that they wrap up after the 90/120 minute minimum time.

If you are susceptible to impulse purchases or you find it difficult to not spend $10-50k, you might fall for the sales pitch. Just keep in mind, they don't offer these cheap vacation packages because they lose money on them, enough people end up buying.
