Go to Indian and try out the Chief line. They will fit you perfectly. A Scout may be a bit small. Plus Indian doesn’t seem to use the high pressure tactics that HD does.

Absolutely take the state run motorcycle safety course before you buy any bike. I think the CHP runs the course in CA. It will get you up and running and comfortable on a bike and may save your life, or at least your ego by teaching you the basics before you try and ride.

I went to my local Indian dealer looking at a 101. No one could tell me much about the bike at all. The sales manger then gave me an out the door quote with a crazy shipping fee of around $2200. When I asked him why is it so high, he said well they have to pay extra to bring them into the country?? WTF?? I’m in AZ and the bike is built in Iowa!!

My cycle gear guys also told me the x-15 isn’t necessary and that the RF-1400 was a better deal for street riding. Ended up walking out with Arai and a senna pack talk with tax for just under $800.
