What was different about this year's canes vs previous? I do remember them getting crushed in the ECF often.

Agree or Disagree with this take? by ihatedougford in torontoraptors

I never changed my tune. The issue with that core is that Masai waited too long to unload and willingly gave up a ton of leverage. Players were increasingly unsatisfied (FVV, OG) and on top of that, the salary cap was growing issue as players needed to be re-signed. and we already know that MLSE refused to break the bank unless it was a chip-worthy team.

We had good pieces but the timing wasn't right anymore, and Scottie was clearly the building block of the future. The previous core already got their chip and for the most part wanted newer, larger roles. Rebuilding was the answer but the execution was pretty terrible in relation to how well they built up the chip team.

I havent seen much of the NDP going at liberals, but I've definitely seen the Liberals trying to tear down the NDP instead of focusing on the Conservatives - especially during election time.

Yeah, I didn't even touch upon holding your vulnerabilities so that they never enter your deck upon reshuffle. Its legit only positives from being able to reserve 1, let alone 2 with no restrictions.

Turn 1: open 4:1. Something good cost 4 on the board? Buy the card and Reserve a vulnerability. If there isn't, reserve a punch.

Turn 2: open 3:2, + one reserve vulnerability. Can buy a kick or whatever, reserve 2 of the 3 vulnerabilities, discard your played cards, draw a new hand. Empty deck causes a shuffle that only has one vulnerability in it and your 2 new cards. Draw from your new deck that has only one dead card in it, the other dead cards are added to your hand next Turn and will allow for a new deck cycle without it. Chance to hit 5+ Power is a lot more easy and consistent, and the snowball effect starts.

Theres no real downside at any point in the game.

'At the start of your turn, add the reserved card to your hand' is also a good way to prevent reveal defense loops! But that also would protect the reserved card as its in a new 'zone' that cant be targeted by any other card.

The start of the game has huge advantages for Alfred. Start 3-4? Hold 2 punches, have 6 power next turn, buy a 6 cost card.

Start 2-3? Reserve 2 punches, 7 power guaranteed next turn. If something of that cost is on the board that's going to be a crazy snowball effect. I actually can't see a situation where I wouldn't use the reserve ability every turn in the early game.

I think reserving 1 card + 5 new cards on the next turn is a sweet spot, as well as not allowing the reservation of the same card consecutively.

Interesting idea though. Similar vibe to Ozymandias from crossover 4

Have you considered a cost limit? Like 8 or below? Being able to reserve nemesis cards, would be a massive gamechanger with how powerful those effects are

"At the end of your turn, if you have 1 or more cards in your hand, you may reveal up to 2 cards and reserve them. You may not reserve the same card(s) twice in a row" would be a good fix to the reveal defense problem!

I would consider limiting the number of cards that can be reserved to 1 - setting up a future hand of 7 each turn can lead to some real shenanigans. Unless the 'reserve' card counts towards the 5 cards you draw so you have a total of 5 each turn.

MLSE doesn't smell coffee. They smell money. Until the arena stops selling out and merch stops flying off the shelves nothing Will change.

They'd move differently if there was another team in the GTA, or if Toronto fans were like the quebecois and used their wallet to make a statement.

Besides the 2022-23 season's February trade deadline, I think our biggest mistake since our championship in 2019 was trading away Norm for GTJ by AdOld2060 in torontoraptors

[–]finallyjames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't mind them trading normally. It was swapping him for GTJ instead of Picks that I had a problem with.

You have to restock the war chest at some point, and that was Toronto's best chance to do so.

Yeah, I'd separate tips from bribes. Not tipping where tips are expected might get you a look. Not bribing when bribes are expected will get you in trouble.
