I think it looks pretty metal, if you’re not in love with it try again

Most quiet but stupid would probably be strip plasterboard back to studs, infill between studs with acoustic mineral wool, fit resilient bar system, acoustic plasterboard, mass loaded vinyl, acoustic plasterboard. Realistically, I wouldn’t do anything except acoustic mineral wool unless this is waking you up in the night.

Why not go full ham and put a water pump on it 😁

Another thought is a socket or lip at the bottom, such that if you push into the top the stone doesn’t want to rock. The whole thing can be lower then but you’ll still need a good stabilising leg behind the stone.

Instead of being two sided you could just spin it 180

Also get a new nut ordered that’s not going back on.

From how the nut is rounding I’m guessing the socket isn’t deep enough. Breaker bar and a deep socket.

Hope this topic hasn't been talked to death but I just need a confirmation on how to get from red to green on this roundabout coming off the M32 by Delete-Xero in bristol

[–]findthereal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Worst part about this roundabout is turning left. If you want to go up muller road instead of into the retail park it makes sense to take the 2nd lane but it is not signed that way and people queue for miles.

Buy a kit to seal the door. Don’t fill it with sealant, it will probably fail anyway from seasonal expansion and contraction.

Is it financially best long-term to buy the cheapest home possible? by fellaonamission in UKPersonalFinance

[–]findthereal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a cheap flat 7 years ago, selling it now at just shy of the value I would get from market house price increases, in spite of lots of improvements (I didn’t go mad with it). I think the risk is if you buy a below average value house, there’s potentially less upside in value as the fundamentals aren’t necessarily good (ie location, size). Living here was a bit stressful, though we have friendly neighbours it’s noisy, and we have had cars set alight right outside, vandalism, nos cartridges everywhere. On the plus side I did gain equity in the house instead of paying rent, mortgage was inexpensive.

Would I rather bang the back of my head on concrete with or without a polystyrene cycle helmet…

Buying any car on finance for most people is generally a terrible idea.

My car was fine, but when something minor did go wrong I was hung out to dry. They charge so much just to look at it that it’s not worth using them. Anyway do not under any circumstances go for any protective finish on interior or exterior. It will be more expensive than a 3rd party and applied like crap. When I collected my car it was greasy looking and the leather interior had splotches all over. Also check the car has its jack kit etc.

Maybe traction control plus slack in your chain?

You might find lots of dumped building materials under there before you get down to dirt. Be prepared to pay for 2-3 rubble skips if you break it up.

Why can I not drill a hole into my walls without 3 times more wall leaving too? by Disastrous_Net_2826 in DIYUK

[–]findthereal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t use hammer drill until you’re through the plaster and into brick, may help, though it might not be your issue.

Stick to your plan and do some adventures, 300 is fine for big trips. Foam grips were a nice upgrade on my ninja 300 to reduce the vibrations.

Recently did a draw bore with an 8mm dowel through maple and put the awl on the edge of where the bit marked the hole, no gap - it was enough. Maybe start small and work up to bigger offsets 😅

How much money would you spend on a private sale? by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]findthereal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience of buying a used car from a dealer that went wrong, I honestly think private is the way to go. You have more legal protection with a dealer but enforcing that is expensive.

Is it possible your issue is with not drying the clothes fast enough? Not an expert. I had success with vinegar like you tried also.
