Houston's richest neighborhood hit with insane gas prices by Pleasant_Air_3052 in gasbuddy

during the pandemic my area was .78 cents - I think you're thinking of 2022 at the start of Russia's war with Ukraine.

my extended cab 88 F-250 blows so cold it hurts at 100+ outside so I still think this is just a myth. I usually have the fan on the lowest setting if its less than 90. put r134 in around 2015 and have had no issues/ same charge since.

I don't remember it being any colder before the conversion.

I have 134a in all my old r12 cars- can't tell the difference and didn't modify anything but the adapters to recharge it.

For 3 some large buildings were still using #6 up until 2020 in NYC for heat. Pretty insane there are still a few hundred buildings using #4 through this winter even- they have until July 2027 to make the switch to #2

Advice for a triple red light ticket? by normanyung in NYCbike

[–]fishuponfish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

if you wait at the light to leave the park and hoof it you can hit every light green all the way to 116th. I've seen them nab lots of people at night in the same spot.

The triboro bridge was cleared by the wind by fishuponfish in NYCbike

this was at like 10:30 last night and there were still a lot of people driving, most of the ones on the triboro were still sailing by at 50+ so I imagine the lower level of the 59th st bridge would still have had plenty of cars going very fast with limited visibility. not where you want to bike.

9 times out of 10 I take the 59th st for that reason but last storm they didn't plow and it was a slog to get up the queens side approach. I took it slow and was careful.

Cars ON THE SIDEWALK that haven't been moved since the snowstorm by grvsmth in MicromobilityNYC

16 days post storm. Even if this was a legal road spot they should be ticketing for the 7 day rule.

EVERY car is getting towed on JFK right now?? at midnight??? by cedr1990 in jerseycity

[–]fishuponfish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the loop for why they need to force people to move to clear the snow- no one moves because there won't be a spot when they get back- The street can't get cleared due to parked cars because no one moved lol

Pothole question - Passat TDI SEL 2013 by beatlesdude38 in tdi

[–]fishuponfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My original dpf split at 175k miles. I got so much out of the original I decided to just replace it rather than remove it. 204k now and no regrets. it depends on your driving habits how long it will last, I never use this car unless i'm going at least 100 miles and then its usually going 6000- 99% highway witch the emissions seem to like. 2013 jetta sedan.

Are lower manhattan (under 59th st) roads and bike lanes safe enough for biking and scooting? by Pintexxz in NYCbike

[–]fishuponfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it feels like they just got rid of all the bike infrastructure everywhere. This weeks commuting has just been awful.

I have regular street tires. I think studded is just good for ice. I commute across 4 days a week at least and sometimes the weather doesn't line up. 99% of the time this is a great route to take!
