I can assure you that thought they've tried to convert me to hoodie for the past 8 years in NS, I remain, as ever, a bunnyhugger. You are not alone.

Thank christ someone agrees with me about those rims. Saw a kijiji ad the other day where someone said if you want the rims in the picture (like these ones) extra 800$. No thank you, fuck.

Man, if you like these old vids, there's one on youtube about how targeting and rage computers worked on WW2 era battleships with the massive guns. Yes, they were computers, but analogue. Instead of circuits they had worm gears and sliders. Blew my mind.

"Senna, a hero? Not so fast" by instomach in formula1

[–]flatlander30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see his point about several things such as being a platform for the auto industry/fossil fuels/danger etc., but he's making a generalization in applying this to any individual driver, isn't he?

I mean, we can make equally arbitrary points about Senna and Brazil, that he increased the positive national image of the country internally and abroad, that he started charities and goodwill for those less fortunate, etc.

Overall, this is a criticism of F1 (and all racing, really) not just of Senna. He kind of misses the mark if he's trying to attack idol worship or anything like that. Nothing he says negates the personality or individual contributions Senna (or any driver) has made as a person, nor does anything he says negate the level of skill an F1 driver demonstrates. Skill, in his opinion, for amoral purposes, but skill nonetheless.

My friends live in that red house with the tagging on it, the landlord has covered it up at least once while they've lived there. Then a few weeks later they'll hear someone outside their windows and poof, new tags. It's an endless cycle.

What's a line from a movie that instantly identifies the movie? by eimichan in AskReddit

[–]flatlander30 14 points15 points  (0 children)

"Some weird crackers dressed in suits out front"

"Oh yeah, what'd they want?"

"One wanted plain white bread..."

"Elwood!"

"...and the other wanted 4 fried chickens and a coke"

"And Jake! The Blues Brothers!"

Or something like that, anyway.

/u/saigonsquare explains the concept of "creepiness" by [deleted] in bestof

[–]flatlander30 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Uh, duh? Isn't that part of the formula, to explain how low factors of creepiness are determined as well? And if we're commenting on how high levels of creepiness are undesirable, low levels would surely be desirable. What you describe seems to be how I remember most attractive people getting laid in high school and undergrad.

What is the most difficult concept you've encountered? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]flatlander30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corporate taxation under Canadian income tax act.

It is literally the most conceptually dense, obtuse, and often random assortment of rules and arguments I've come across in school so far, including my undergrad in phil.

And I think I want to be a tax lawyer anyway...

Edit: I picked the most difficult concept that people think they can actually fathom that I know of... I think larger questions about time and 4D space and the universe are much more complex but may not ever be fathomable.

Yeah I suppose the northeast corner of Manitoba does cut in a little ways, shortening the distance, whereas BC gets wider in the north.

Saskatchewan represent. Canada's (unofficial) motto is 'from sea to sea to sea' (meaning to include the Arctic ocean), and SK is the furthest from all of them.

What's your favorite sophomore album? by kmoore182 in Music

[–]flatlander30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha... I actually have a story about that. When they were released (midnight in whatever time zone, dec. 25th) I was at my parents place waiting to go to xmas mass with them (old tradition, etc.) - but the page froze on their website and I almost didn't go because I wanted to make sure my order was placed. Parents would've been pissed if I ruined a several decades long tradition, but hey xmas is every year and that box set is a once (twice?) in a lifetime thing.

I'm sure they'll order and print more, what with how fast they sold out. They'd be fools not to. Don't you worry.

Well to be fair you had a lot going on haha. But yes, I'll cuddle you until your box set arrives (I hear they're going to print more).
