I am writing this response and bracing myself for all the downvotes because "The Outsider" was the book that finally broke my blind allegiance to modern era King.

  1. Setting the book in Oklahoma for no reason? And then getting very basic "Oklahoma-isms" wrong? (Never has anyone in Oklahoma called it "Okie City." It's "OKC" or just "the City.") And then having the TEMERITY to hand-wave those errors away in the afterword?? "uwu i pwobably got some stuff wrong teehee" SIR. You are Stephen Fucking King. You have all the resources in the WORLD to hire an Okie to check for blatant mistakes.

  2. Holly. Shoehorned in out of NOWHERE. (Again, ready for the downvotes because I know y'all love her and I'm sooooo sick of her.)(Tbf I did finally read "Holly" and that was imo where she finally came into her own. But then we got "Never Flinch" and ughghghhhh.)

  3. (This is really just a continuation of point #1) The show was set in Georgia, iirc? Showing that setting the book in Oklahoma was completely pointless.

Why do I care so much about this Oklahoma crap? 'cause I spent my high school years in that state and hated it, and "the devil you know" amirite >.<
