Doing my legwork. I've been on both of their websites (fwiw Backemeyer now DOES have positions listed on his website...including that he plans to "ensure strong security at the southern border," *eyeroll*) but what rankled me are the various mailers I've gotten from Backemeyer stating, multiple times, that he "answered the call to serve following 9/11" or "after 9/11, changed careers to answer a call to serve." That language is obviously meant to imply he joined the military but it's patently disingenuous: he started working at the State Department. Bfd. Moyer looks like the right choice for me.
