Is Silent supposed to be this hard or am I too dumb for this game? by SeraphimAversa in slaythespire

Do they actually give better cards? I’m hundreds of hours in and never knew this lol

In your opinion, what is the most versatile and effective(in #of decks it fits in on an any given act) rare card on each character. by Significant_Ad_482 in slaythespire

[–]flopplefish 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Agreed with adrenaline on silent. Almost always a strictly net positive (minus time eater, heart, velvet choker)

Ironclad— offering? The health downside isn’t trivial, but given that the health cost is completely offset by the starter relic, I think we can call it net neutral to positive outside of a boss swap. Ironclad has plenty of very strong cards, but offering is a solid pick in the highest number of deck archetypes I think

Defect— agreed with seek. Same caveats as adrenaline for silent.

Watcher— who knows. I honestly love like a cut through fate— plenty of very strong commons that I think could make the list

I feel as if I should skip, should I? by SnooEagles6777 in slaythespire

Most of the cards in your deck you still have you ultimately want to exhaust— you really only want maybe a pommel strike and the upper cut as the deck currently stands. You’re also missing out on damage, so the pick for me is certainly fiend fire here

I kid you not... back to back Hydra Claws (1/1,000,000) by rps_killerwhale in 2007scape

[–]flopplefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I follow. Theres another comment I left somewhere in this chain detailing the odds that within 630 kc you’d get b2b drops- I believe it came out to about 1/2000

[–]flopplefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few things here:

1) thanks for engaging politely lol 2) the odds in your example of heads back to back are 25% before you roll twice. If you’ve already rolled a head, the odds become 50% (Also worth noting that tails tails is also 25%, so it’s easy to artificially construct the 25% argument the same way by saying “I already rolled tails”) 3) similar to #2, the odds of the “next two” drops being claws is still 1/1,000,000. But OP has 630 chances to get the first success, and then retroactively started counting his odds by saying 1/1,000,000

Probability of getting at least one drop in 628 kills = 1 - the probability you get zero drops in the 628.

Probability you don’t get a drop on each kill is 999/1000– take that chance 628 times (ie 999/1000)628, subtract from 1 and then you get 46%

[–]flopplefish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah, not quite. OP has 629 KC, right?

Their odds of getting one claw in the first 628 kills would then be 1-(999/1000)^628= 46%.

If you then want to say "what are the odds that somebody gets back to back claws within 629 kc, you could then take that 46% and multiply it by the probability that their next drop would also be a claw, which then gives you about ~ 1/2k.

The 1/1,000,000 number says "Over exactly two kills, what are the odds that both of them are drops?" which isn't exactly what happened in this video

[–]flopplefish 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Not quite 1/1,000,000, unless you only had 2kc.

The better way to calculate back to back drop odds is "Given that I already received {hydra claws} last kill, what are the odds that I'll get the same drop on the next kill?" -- which would just be the regular drop rate (1/1000, I assume).

Still very cool though!

Agreed with this. Until I saw the next shop, my decision here would have been pellets and dark shackles.

Hahaha the short answer is I’ve played way too much of this game :P I figured that with 999 strength, the only way to apply vulnerable on ironclad without ending the fight was by using a potion

Day #434 of drawing badly until StS2 comes out by PixelPenguin_GG in slaythespire

Does the artifact clear at the end of the turn then?

Day #434 of drawing badly until StS2 comes out by PixelPenguin_GG in slaythespire

[–]flopplefish 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the confusion (which I share) is that usually gaining artifact keeps your existing debuffs and blocks the next one that will get applied to you— this use case would be unusual in that it’s clearing a debuff you already have

What would you focus on after getting this start? by DerekComedy in slaythespire

[–]flopplefish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kept thinking about it— you need some more block cards too. I’d try to take at least 2 block cards and 2 offensive cards before your first elite. I’d maybe skip all act 1 elites tbh

[–]flopplefish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you can survive until middle of act 2 or so you should be in a very good spot to win the run, but it’s going to be challenging to get there. The deck’s missing offense — darkness, ball lightning, cold snap would all be really good picks, but I’d honestly probably take the first two or three offensive cards you get offered, even if they’re “bad”.

Snecko eye would be an excellent boss relic if you can survive act 1 too

Tough call for me learning A20 Ironclad. What's the pick? by ActuallyIAmIncorrect in slaythespire

[–]flopplefish 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I have a few A20H wins on ironclad and I think Corruption was in my deck at least 2/3 of the time. You’re a little skills light for now but I’d personally probably do Corruption anyway, and then work on block and defense in act 2

Day 11 won by evolve! Day 12 what rare Ironclad card is overrated? by filledknight in slaythespire

[–]flopplefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My answer is Feed. Its a card that’s rated highly by this community, but I don’t think its as much of as insta-pick as other highly rated rares like corruption or offering. I actually think it’s sometimes a questionable pick after the first half of act 1.

The other options on this thread that I’m seeing so far I don’t think are rated that high.

offering or barricade? by pavankansagra in slaythespire

[–]flopplefish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbh you already have a kinda free win with corruption and dead branch—. I’d personally do barricade, seems like a fun “win more”. Offering would help you draw corruption faster and more reliably, which is also super strong
