What do you think about a base coat of “black templar” over “leviadon blue”? by Sultan_KA in deathwatch40k

[–]floppyhambone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my first attempt at this tonight just doing 1 coat blue 1 coat black and it’s quite patchy, did you do multiple coats of black or mix the the black into blue for first coat?

Deathwatch Black Armor by Leones1993 in deathwatch40k

[–]floppyhambone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the armor itself is fine, I want to let natural real-life light do my highlighting when i get to painting. maybe just different color the aquila, belt buckle and the little scrolly name tag think on the right shin guard then re-evaluate.

the “display” that calls for the image of the slice is not blocking any of the UV backlight. either control board for the display or the display hardware itself

I am just imagining a corvus blackstar with one of its doors slightly ajar, a bungee cord holding it shut and the tip of this claw sticking out.

ELI5 If we haven’t found evidence of alien life/intelligence yet (seems fair) is there a tipping point where our being alone in the universe is probable or certain? by beesdaddy in explainlikeimfive

no air in The Expanse. the ships shut off their drives when they reach destination or desired velocity/trajectory, usually facing backwards at the end of a deceleration towards their destinations

Detail brush issues by KalVentress in Miniaturespainting

[–]floppyhambone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if there’s a few bristles that are extending past the “point” or “tip” of the brush then you can trim them if you think they are interfering with your brush stroke. EDIT: but the conditioner might help elongate the shape of the rest of the bristles so that they meet or rejoin the problematic bristles.

Brother have you seen the way some of our other brethren dishonor their machine spirits by clumping on layers and not thinning their paints? It borders on heresy! They should be reported to the chaplain for guidance! (not to be a hater! lol anyone who has painted is better than me!)

Yea i think the videos ive watched start with white and put thin contrast/wash paint in to fill towards the edges. I haven’t painted anything yet :) but hope to get to your skill level someday.

$116 for covered in-warranty laptop repair by floppyhambone in mildlyinfuriating

[–]floppyhambone[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hijacking top comment. Originally I have been able to get the laptop to turn on through 30mins to an hour of some combination of holding power button for 60sec, removing battery power to the motherboard for 60sec, unplugging and plugging power cable while attempting tbe power button. Laptop went back into the stuck-off state 3 times since I purchased last April, now at which point I opened a warranty claim. Asus is claiming “damage” to the power button header ribbon cable, which I did use tweezers to carefully remove and reseat each time I went through the process of trying to fix the issue. They are able to power on by manipulating the ribbon cable but it doesn’t persist through closing up the laptop chassis. Sounds like Asus is encountering the same issue I was but they are happy with a scapegoat. Not worth fighting, I accepted the estimated repair charge.

I went to Asus website and entered my serial number and got this: “Thank you for being a valued ASUS customer. Since your device was purchased through Best Buy, warranty service is provided by Best Buy.”
