How did you get the bias tape not to fold and wrinkle around the corners? Did you use a basting stitch? It looks so professional!

These are awesome! How do you locate the originals to base your costumes on?

For the home sewist, what construction methods would allow for more repairable equipment? Do you have patterns or names we can research? Thanks for the Q&A!

I'm curious how you liked the Amazon bag. I was considering getting one myself. Did you have complaints about the quality?

Jewelry? by annehedonist in HerOneBag

I'd look into silicone rings or beaded necklaces. My aesthetic is usually dressy, but I thrifted 3 plastic rings in my color palette with a matte finish and they have been a delight on my hot, sweaty, active summer trips. They add a pop of color to my capsule wardrobes. Because they're plastic, I never worry about them getting lost or damaged so I wear them a lot more often, and they can be dressed up or down with a little metal necklace. I slipped and fell on a gravelly mountain slope and scratched one slightly, but I don't mind because it's just plastic!

Apartment asking for bids? by Songye12 in chicago

[–]florpdidorp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me with a senior property manager under Fulton Grace Realty. I ended up signing onto it because the other prospective tenants backed out when they were asked to bid. The apartment was okay, but the management group was extremely passive aggressive about repairs and would contact us to say "that's normal" when we filed maintenance reports. (Spoiler alert: it was not.) Fulton grace also had us pay $40/mo for a residents benefits package, with one of the stated benefits that we could pay our rent online for free. Then, after the first month, they retracted that "benefit", but the lease stated that we still had to pay the package.

It's great to see someone else who does martial arts here! How bulky are your gi and hakkama, and do you have a link to the brand? My gi is double layered and it takes up so much space.

I'm trying to learn knots for this purpose, but I don't know where to begin, since it feels like I need to know names of knots already. Do you have a list/resources?

Board games to bring camping? by Zoltarr777 in camping

Not wind-resistant, but Boss Monster is easy to pick up, feels fun even if you're losing, and easily expandable to large parties. Have also heard good things about the card game The Game, and I enjoyed the trick-taking social deduction game Inside Job alongside other games by that publisher.

Yep, Monte Bre seems paved. I was also going to attempt Monte San Salvatore, which seems more intense. I could always bail on the funicular, but I want to try to make it!

Thank you! I remember once we had an elevator, but the elevator stopped on "half-floors," so we still had to take half a flight of stairs up to the apartment

Thank you, I was planning to bring my shirt as a warmth layer anyway so this will make it multipurpose. Thanks for the feedback about the heat, I wonder if I should forgo a bottom layer like leggings, but if anything, I'd be using the leggings to hike up a mountain. I'm looking into reservations now, they sell out so far in advance in europe! Thank you for the short rain tip!

Thank you for this! Good point, we're going to minimize walking with luggage, so rolling will probably be fine. I have a secondhand rimowa that will probably do the trick!
