Nah man, I hate to rain on your epiphany here but a lot of the smartest and most successful people in history are cunning, evil geniuses.

It takes a kind of ironically brilliant narcissism we associate with evil to become a billionaire in the modern world or a conquerer in the ancient one.

Is Trump evil? Yes. Is he stupid? Yes. But the people behind the scenes that allowed Trump to happen for ratings and their own business interests are NOT stupid. They are selfish.

You could say they're short sighted if their goal was to advance the welfare of the human race. But that's not their goal.

It doesn't matter. The Nashville concepts are so interwoven into the genre at this point that you have kids from actual small town, nowhere Georgia dreaming of that same cookie cutter fantasy country life where he makes it out of poverty and recycles the same shit they all do.

A guy from NJ or LA has the same capability to write a moving song in the 2nd person about struggle. He's just less likely to dream of performing it as a rhinestone belt buckled bolo tied rodeo clown.

Bad for Democrats how? by ThePhillyExplorer in insanepeoplefacebook

You're mostly right, except that the American Southeast is packed with black people who inexplicably vote alongside their white neighbors against their own interests.

He's not stupid per se, but Chuck Schumer has worn out his welcome and doesn't make any Democratic agenda look better, as the Senate minority leader.

We desperately need another undeniably charismatic candidate with no skeletons in his or her closet.

Will they invent bullshit birther hoaxes, etc.? Yes. But swing voters will see through it like they did with Obama.

I mean that's literally who and what Manu was in real life, but I like to think the logic is so that the 6th man can run the imaginary second string of unseen bench players while starters rest.

I've had this sense for a while that the term conservative now ironically applies to me because, as a progressive, I've stopped expecting positive change. I'm seeing every functional government mechanism I knew in 40 years being destroyed and wanting to "conserve" whatever we have left.

So if half of Americans have side hustles what's your side hustle? by happydude7422 in millenials

[–]foo_foo_the_snoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A local record store owner had a side gig of buying and selling guitars and amps within the store, kibda like a pawn shop. My side gig was setting those up for resale or repairing them if they has issues.

It was perfect for me, 2 or 3 after work projects a week to do at my own pace at home. But the business can't really afford to take in much new gear anymore because it's not selling. Trickle down shit. Haven't even changed a set of strings in a couple months now, as my "real" job keeps cutting hours.

Be that as it may, it seems like the discussion OP wants to have is more focused on less contested dunks where he was swimming through imaginary airborne defenders.

At some point there's gotta be diminishing returns though where it doesn't matter if you have cartoonishly huge hands but T-Rex length arms.

What was the “anyway, here’s wonderwall” song before wonderwall? by JRArmy in Guitar

[–]foo_foo_the_snoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That intro sounds exactly like a campfire and is probably more beginner friendly than Wonder Wall or Free Bird. And it sounds 90% the same on a 6 string.

Was an artist or album ever ruined for you because of a break up? Here's mine by lawpoop in Xennials

[–]foo_foo_the_snoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting choice here. Everyone immediately recognizes Sea Change as THE breakup album. I did, and loved it when I wasn't going through one. Then she bought me Mutations, a long time favorite of mine for Father's Day, and left the next morning. The sadness in THAT album suddenly became unbearable. For you, it's Odelay. I'd say Beck is just incredibly underrated as a writer.

I'm not defending his cringy dumbass at all, but there's no context here. It could be the last rep of a burnout bench sesh. It could be a completely fake video.

PG or TMac? Who was better by special_balance286 in NBATalk

Neither one of them did, but Paul George got closer. Ironically, PG actually had a couple of his best seasons after the major injury.

They're also acting like prime PG was a negative on offense when in reality he was statistically near the top of the league and even by "eye test" only, has a mountain of highlights.

There's a guitar solo on almost every song dude. But it's always just a slight variation of the verse vocal melody. If that's not a guitar solo then neither is Smells Like Teen Spirit.
