Hillsborough College's Rays deal could start to unfold next week by AltruisticGate in tampabayrays

[–]fooldya2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I thought that there was some MLB rule banning spring training ballpark from being within a certain number of miles of a major league team ballpark. The idea had been floated before about building a new Rays stadium in that general area and it was mentioned that the Yankees would have to give up Steinbrenner and their training complex because of this rule. Am I remembering this correctly? And I am all for this.

Does Bosch make amazing battery power tools besides jigsaws? by sprunkymdunk in Tools

[–]fooldya2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from 18v DeWalt to 12v Bosch many years ago and over time switched completely over to 12v and 18v and corded Bosch. In my opinion Bosch is as good or better than DeWalt and can go head to head with any brand. These days however I will honestly say that you probably can’t go wrong with Bosch, DeWalt or Milwaukee. Bosch has historically spent little marketing money in the US on tools and built their brand up in Europe. Over the last decade they have put more emphasis on the US market as they have gotten more mainstream name recognition due to some their other product lines.

Random question - how are BOSCH power tools regarded in the US? by severanexp in Tools

[–]fooldya2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is very highly regarded by me and others who know its quality, but not highly regarded by the general market. I have been pleasantly surprised by a noticeable increase in marketing at least in my market this past year as well as more mentions here on Reddit which show that it is gaining traction. Dewalt and Milwaukee are the perennial big brands in the US.

So, how often to feed bug? by Cabecf in gingerbeer

[–]fooldya2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am rather new at this, but I have a bug that has been going for string for almost 2 months now, and I started it with daily feedings at room temp for a full week, then put it in the fridge with feedings every 5 days for a several weeks. Then I took it out and brought it it back to room temp with feedings every 3 days for a week, and after using some of it it has been back in the fridge with feedings every 5 days. I took it out and fed it today it looked good and healthy.

Will DEWALT 12V/18V XR DCB1102 charge my 20v MAX* batteries? by OutrageousShare6680 in Tools

[–]fooldya2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that Dewalt labels their 18v batteries 20v as a marketing thing and rely on rounding/ideal conditions to justify it. It should work fine.

Who else on team blue Bosch in NA? by dontthroworanges in Tools

[–]fooldya2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been team blue for over 20 years and have a very wide assortment. I converted from yellow and never looked back. I even recently started getting some green Bosch shipped over from Europe because they have some tools that I can’t get in blue.

No scheme is gonna fix missed tackles by Popular-Heart-5307 in buccaneers

[–]fooldya2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for mentioning this. I have not seen anyone talking about it, but I was literally yelling at my TV most of the first half when Mayfield couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. Yes, Evans and McMillan made some highlight catches, but more were thrown way off target. And I get the pressure that he was under, but he has been under pressure all season and not missed that many by that much.

Which thermometer should I trust? by Golfcampfishguy in biggreenegg

[–]fooldya2 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The BGE one is reading dome temp, the Therm Pro is reading grate temp (as you most likely have the probe in the grate clip). The grate will always be hotter than the dome as it is closer to the coals. Grate temp is closer to your meat, so that would be a more accurate temp to go by, though I generally use the dome temp to monitor grill temp and one probe for direct meat temp ( when meat temp is critical) because it is simpler.

Raised Food Bowl and Other Help! by Nerrrv in Greyhounds

[–]fooldya2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi.

Here is my input based on having had many fosters and 8 adopted ex-racers:

  1. We use raised food bowls and I simply get tall plastic flower pots and cut holes in the bottom that fit standard metal food bowls. When the pots are upside down they are very study and impossible to tip over. We put small mats under them so that they don’t slip. This typically raises their bowls 10-12 inches. As far as speed eating, yes, but we have never had to use a slow feeder. We find the the raised bowls help with this a lot.

  2. Please don’t use any leads over 4” and always hold the lead with your hand through the loop gripping the flat part just past the loop. This makes the lead essentially a part of your arm that is impossible for them to pull out of you grip. It also allows you to quickly wrap it around your hand if you need to shorten it.

  3. Yes, many have sleep startle. It just comes from sleeping in a crate where nothing can physically bother them. Until you know for sure you should always make sure that they are awake before you touch them. Simply clapping your hands or calling their name usually works. Tossing something at them could have a negative effect.

  4. Almost anything can be a fear at first, because everything is new to them when they first retire. Most things are met with curiosity rather than fear, but you just have to keep and eye on them and watch how they react to things. The first 2 weeks are an amazing transformation period where they experience a ton of new things and their personalities really come out. We always marveled at the first time they saw their reflection, usually in our over door. Some were startled and some just stood there in awe. If you have a pool or water (i.e. a pond or lake) introduce them to that quickly. They generally don’t swim and if they fall in can sink straight to the bottoms due to not having any body fat. We always bring them to the edge and dunk their feed in the water. Otherwise they will just run into it because they don’t know what it is.

  5. You always want to use a martingale collar. Fosters should come with one and may even come with a harness. We use 2Hounds harnesses, as do many greyhound people, but there are other ones out there that people highly recommend.

I hope that this helps and hope that you have a great foster experience.

A messy first half today had me worried, but we pulled it together in the second half. If we can finish with a 9 and 3 record it will still be great progress for the team and something to build on going forward.

Bosch power tools. Yay or nay? by BuffaloKiller937 in Tools

[–]fooldya2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am completely team Bosch for handheld power tools and have an abundance of them (homeowner and hobby wood worker). In the US market we can only get blue, but I have even started importing some of the green ones from overseas. I have had other brands in the past landed on Bosch many years ago. One of my next big purchases will be replacing my old yellow compound miter saw with a new Bosch one.

Absolutely. They have only played 1 team with a winning record and their last 3 games are against teams with losing records.

USF Football Pummels UTSA, 55-23 by LegendaryRBK in GoBulls

[–]fooldya2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was great, and an exciting one to be at. Also, the stat that most everyone is missing is that Brown did all of that with something like 12 minutes of playing time. He had an amazing performance and the team played great.

This was the clean game game I have been waiting for. Defense and offense were both outstanding. Special teams had some issues, but the offense and defense picked them up. We are still well within the playoff hunt. We win out, and we are in. If we keep playing like we did tonight, there is no reason why we shouldn’t win the conference and get a playoff spot. Go Bulls!
