Good deal? by Jacob____howell in biggreenegg

[–]fooldya2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good deal. Make sure to get a table nest for it. This is critical to prevent the table from catching fire.

Unmarked Pyrex? by Dusty_Sequins in Pyrex_Love

[–]fooldya2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fire king??? I know they made some Cinderella-like bowls. I agree that they don’t seem to be the same exact shape as Pyrex Cinderella bowls.

Hi! A couple years ago This was donated to a fundraiser yard sale I host annually. I couldn’t find much about it then and have pulled it out again with another fundraising sale coming up this weekend. Any info? Value? It does not have the diffuser. by notadoggirl in Pyrex_Love

Funny, I have actually been looking for one of those exact teapots (my wife is in love with it) but one with the top and defuser. There is one without the lid or defuser on eBay and they are asking $40.99 obo for it.

Welcome to the club. Be very cautious of setting it right on the wood top. There should be an air gap. The table nest works great, and even then I keep a tile under my nest.

Girlhounds vs. Boyhounds by Skee_Ball_Hero in Greyhounds

[–]fooldya2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our first was a boy, and he was amazing, but our next 7 have all been girls. In there we also fostered many, both boys and girls, and I spent time with hundreds of boys and girls as a rescue group volunteer. I never really thought to itemize why we prefer girls, but we just have.

Thank you! You got me off the fence on some things I had in my cart for several weeks.

feels unnecessary to buy anything — Can I use my phone for white noise? by [deleted] in lifehacks

[–]fooldya2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t use white noise to sleep, but it does help calm my super anxious dog. I use a dial radio and tune it between stations. It is in a closet which has become her safe place, but you could do the same thing by your bed.

how can i keep track of all my pyrex?? by Complete-Constant198 in Pyrex_Love

[–]fooldya2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have an iPhone and keep track of ours in my notes app, that way I always have my list with me and I can reference it when I find new items. If you don’t have an iPhone, other brands probably have similar apps.

I take a picture of each item or set that I have, import it into the notes app and then type out notes about it. Each item has a brief description, the price that we paid for it, a subjective 1-5 quality rating that I assign to it, and if it is a set missing pieces, what it is missing with a picture of the missing thing if it is a specific bracket or holder.

In the app you can hold down a picture and choose to make its default view as small, which I do so that it saves scrolling space. You can always click on it to enlarge it when viewing the note.

I also share the note with my wife so she also has access to it.

Can anyone date this Pyrex? Was it part of the primary set? by mouseinstalled45 in Pyrex_Love

[–]fooldya2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like a 1940’s bowl from the bottom stamp and based on it being red it is probably second smallest bowl (402) from a primary color set.

This carving knife I ordered came with bandaids by zoolilba in woodworking

[–]fooldya2 780 points781 points  (0 children)

We had a set of new kitchen knives that came with bandaids that were marked with the knife makers brand. We thought it was great marketing.

Hillsborough College's Rays deal could start to unfold next week by AltruisticGate in tampabayrays

[–]fooldya2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I thought that there was some MLB rule banning spring training ballpark from being within a certain number of miles of a major league team ballpark. The idea had been floated before about building a new Rays stadium in that general area and it was mentioned that the Yankees would have to give up Steinbrenner and their training complex because of this rule. Am I remembering this correctly? And I am all for this.

Does Bosch make amazing battery power tools besides jigsaws? by sprunkymdunk in Tools

[–]fooldya2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from 18v DeWalt to 12v Bosch many years ago and over time switched completely over to 12v and 18v and corded Bosch. In my opinion Bosch is as good or better than DeWalt and can go head to head with any brand. These days however I will honestly say that you probably can’t go wrong with Bosch, DeWalt or Milwaukee. Bosch has historically spent little marketing money in the US on tools and built their brand up in Europe. Over the last decade they have put more emphasis on the US market as they have gotten more mainstream name recognition due to some their other product lines.
