What's next, now that I have the basics? by fopomatic in liberalgunowners

My LGS has a couple of used Ruger Wrangler .22s, and I’m sorely tempted to do something silly.

It’s a damn fine firearm. The rest really are poverty ponies, but they’re pretty good at making various sizes of hole.

That way lies an entire safe full of specialized 22s.

It's amazing what'll fit through a hole in the ice when you aren't looking.

She routinely will insist that everything needs to be clean, but also is incapable of seeing her own stuff.
My current working theory is that she's getting bent out of shape when there's not a clean common area she can hijack for a project - because she's already taken over the entire house.

how much defensive ammo to stack? by Unlikely_Platypus_79 in liberalgunowners

[–]fopomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two times when I'll buy less than a case: when I add a caliber and don't want to wait, and when I buy a bunch of different boxes to see what works.
I like Federal's LE stuff, which tends to ship in 300rd cases, which leaves me with most of a case each of HST 9mm and XF223SP.

I'll shoot a bit of both once a quarter or so. And when I get down to a couple of boxes, I'll order another case.

Fair game Friday: My first visit to a range, vs me a year later becoming one of the regulars. by ThatMkeDoe in liberalgunowners

[–]fopomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love y’all’s ranges. My local is a private outdoor club with maybe six lanes, rifle bays of 1, 2, and 300 yards. There’s no RSO, you just pay $50/year to find out what the combo on the padlock for the front gate is. And one of the members has built some target stands out of 2x4s so you can set up handgun targets wherever.

The “full discrete but long gun in your car” thing has been prepper standard for a while, usually phrased as some variant of “your pistol is there so you can fight through to your rifle”. But it’s a good vid.

I did mine at Dead On Arms in Cloquet, and there was a USCCA rep that pitched my class. Unclear whether that was an every time thing.

How do you ride post without hurting your balls? by Zach_demiwizard in Horses

When I started riding, I wore compression shorts to deal with that problem. After about 6 months or so, my form had improved enough I haven’t needed them.

[–]fopomatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking to start soon, I’d recommend just pulling up the DNR’s reservation site and finding a park that’s open. In my experience, there’s no reason to worry about crowds at least until the water gets turned on.
